Boldt Elementary School Counselors
March 2024
Happy March!
We are so grateful for the love and appreciation shown to us during National School Counseling Week! We feel truly blessed to be able to support the students, staff, and community at Boldt. Our campus also celebrated Random Acts of Kindness Week in February. We loved seeing all the kind gestures that everyone gave to one another. Remember if you need anything, don't hesitate to reach out!

February Guidance
During the month of February, we focused our lessons on kindness, Students learned different ways that they can be kind and how kindness acts can spread and create a ripple affect. We also learned about coping skills and how they help us handle our BIG emotions.

Spring Break
Spring Break is near! What are your plans? Here is a great list of ideas that you can do with your friends and family
Positive Affirmations
Affirmations are short phrases or statements that are generally positive. Like adults, children can use positive affirmations in all sorts of ways. "Children may want to say their affirmations silently to themselves, visualize them, say them out loud in front of a mirror, or maybe even write them down," Dr. Tablang-Jimenez says. "Regular repetition can encourage your brain to take them as facts, believing you can do something and creating a positive mindset that can help you to accomplish your goals."
Positive affirmations are especially important for children because they enhance their ability to cope and live fully. "When children use positive phrases about themselves, it helps shape and strengthen their own inner voice that will be with them a lifetime," says Kelly Oriard, co-founder of Slumberkins and licensed family therapist. "Saying an affirmation like 'I am brave, I am kind' and repeating it can soon become a child's reality."
How can you incorporate positive affirmations daily with your child?
1. Write a weekly positive affirmation note and leave it in a place where your child can see it daily and repeat it to themselves (ex. bathroom mirror, refrigerator, lunchbox, etc).
2. Sing along to Doggyland's Affirmation Song "Believe in Yourself" with your child. (*Doggyland was created by Snoop Dogg)
3. While sitting in the car with your child in the morning, repeat affirmations together as you drive.
4. Create an art project together using the positive affirmations that your child chooses.
