Principal's Message
Thank you to our parents for adhering to our Covid safe open house procedures. I received many compliments on how well prepared our teachers were in sharing their curriculum and class protocols. I encourage you to reach out to your child's teachers if have any concerns throughout the school year.
Students are doing a great job in adjusting to this school year. However, we need to keep vigilant over our students to make sure they stay focused and confident in the classroom. Our teachers, student support personnel and parents need to keep the lines of communication open to ensure that each child has the opportunity for success.
Reminder that this Wednesday is early release and students will be dismissed one hour early at 12:55pm.
Best Wishes,
J. Amaral

Suicide Prevention Month
For the month of September, the Portsmouth High School mental health team will be working to promote suicide prevention and awareness. A major focus of suicide prevention is rooted in actions that can promote healing, help, and give hope. At the core of our prevention activities, we want to ensure that students have/are aware of the tools of self-care that allow us to maintain physical health & welfare and perceptions of safety & security. One way we can help to achieve this is through self-care planning. We have implemented an advisory activity to promote self-care strategies for all students at PHS.
In addition, there are resources available in each of the cafeterias and scrolling on the screens throughout the building. We have added QR codes that students can scan from the privacy of their lunch table so that there is no pressure to gather paper copies of information.
We will also be providing resources for parents and caretakers at the open house on Thursday 9/16/2021. Please look out for that information being posted on our Parent Portal website following the open house.
