Elements of Illustrations/Interplay of Text
While reading the book I realized that every illustration is on the right-hand side. No image in the story is on the left-hand side. The author does this so that the image is the first thing the reader sees when they turn the page. Since the reader sees the image first they can already visualize what it is they are reading before they read it. The images in the story are very important. After every sentence and or statement Lynd Ward would have an image following it. This is done purposely so that readers can picture what is occurring in the story accurately. Another reason why the images are on the right-hand-side is so that after readers read the writing it is followed by an image showing the act. This is done purposefully to help readers that may not be able to visualize what the lines are saying.
