Academic Orientation September 7th
Hello Skyview Families,
Thank you for another great week. Our systems are smoothing out and it feels like we are running on all cylinders at this time. Thank you for all your help with this on your end.
Academic Orientation: We are excited to be able to again welcome families into our building for an afternoon of academic orientation on Tuesday, September 7 from 3:30 to 5:00. Our time will begin with an opportunity to go into your student’s classroom to hear from their teacher from 3:30 to 4:00. Parents can then hear big picture information about Skyview in the gym from 4:00 to 4:30, and there will be a second opportunity to visit another classroom from 4:30 to 5:00. During this time, teachers will be discussing classroom management strategies, systems for learning and expectations as well as standards based instruction they will be teaching with. This will be a very informative time. We ask that you arrange for childcare for this event as both space and time are limited. Presentations will be shared with families after the event for reference and for those who are unable to attend.
Updated District Guidelines: Hopefully you all received the district messaging from our school board earlier this week. If you missed it, the message is attached below.

A Message to Weld RE-4 School District Families from the Board of Education
On Tuesday, August 24, 2021 we drafted and approved a motion in an effort to keep Weld RE-4 students and staff safe and in schools, and to provide a safe and reasonable standard of care. The motion includes the following requirements:
COVID data for each school, based on current enrollment, will be evaluated daily on a rolling two-week window.
If any school is found to have a total number of positive cases above 3% of the school's enrollment within that current window, they will be required to have masks implemented for a two-week window.
The mask mandate will be lifted after two weeks, if the number of positive cases drops below 3% of the school's enrollment.
At any time that a single class, K-5, has an outbreak of 5 kids or more, that class will be transitioned into remote learning for a 14-day period.
This is an interim protocol, set by the board's motion, as we seek further guidance from the local health department. We will be evaluating its effectiveness based on our ability to keep students in person as much as possible. As we learn more and if the board chooses to make modifications, those modifications will be made during a public meeting.
What families can expect is that when a school is made aware that a member of its school community has tested positive, it will send out messages to those impacted. The rules of the school district are that students who are symptomatic or who are being tested for COVID must stay home from school. In the event that an outbreak occurs and a transition to remote learning is required, the families affected will be notified by their school.

We are all so grateful to still be in school, however, we need to continue to work together to keep our students safe and our doors open. Please continue to monitor your children’s health, and report any probable or positive cases of COVID from your household.
Labor Day: There is no school on Monday, September 6.
I continue to feel deep gratitude for each of our students and families. Skyview is truly a wonderful community, and I am thankful that you allow us to care for your children each day. Have a great weekend.
Sincerely,
Evan Netzer
