SUHSD Distance Learning Update – Sep. 21, 2020
Two more weeks!
Happy Monday Buccaneers,
Parents, teachers, and students, we have completed our first grading period. We know that this new way of learning has been challenging for everyone. Please know that our goal is to continue to provide the supports and the services that your son/daughter needs to be successful.
To our students: Many of you received your grades and were not surprised at the results because you have been checking and taking the time to ask your teachers for help or clarification. You have taken advantage of the interventions we have during the day and after school. Congratulations!
For our students who have been struggling with distance learning, who might have had connectivity problems, or who need the extra support during this pandemic, please reach out for help. This was a progress report. There is still time to bring up grades. Our goal is to support and provide you with the tools you need to be successful. Take advantage of tutoring; ask your teachers for help; Mr. Garnica and Mrs. Gracias are available on Monday and Tuesday to help you with technology or with other issues you might have.
To our parents: Thank you for joining us during our first progress report parent meeting. We had a great turnout! Your comments, questions, and suggestions were very helpful. We will be using your input to provide additional supports for our students.
To our teachers: Thank you for making it your goal and your mission to help our Buccaneers achieve success. Our efforts to provide our students with the first best lesson every day goes well beyond content knowledge, test preparation, and grades. We are teaching our students character traits that include respect, perseverance, and problem solving. We are all partners in education and together we assist our young scholars in learning these traits in order for them to be prepared to be amazing citizens in our community.
We have two weeks before we go on to Fall Break. Let us continue to engage our students in meaningful learning experiences.
We will have our first STEAM challenge on the week of September 28th - October 2nd. Parents and students, please save any recyclable materials that might help with the STEAM challenge.
May this week be full of learning, excitement, and hope!
Julissa
