Happy New Year and Welcome Back!
Happy New Year Eagles and Welcome Back to school!
We were so excited to welcome back our students, staff, and parents for a great first day of 2022. Thank you for making this first day a successful one and remembering that we show our EAGLE PRIDE each and every day.
We hope that you and your families had a safe and happy holiday season. The students had an opportunity today to share their holiday news with others and welcome a new start to their second wave of learning this school year.
Today's agenda has a few items to be aware of as we begin the new year. We welcome our new students to Emmott from other schools and also the return of our Virtual Learners from the fall season. We are glad you are a part of our learning community and we look forward to your success this semester.
Let's get ready to Let Your Learning GLOW in 2022!
Emmott School Schedule Reminders
Doors Open - 7:45 a.m.
Please do not drop off your students prior to this time, especially in these wintery days ahead. Students will not have supervision if they arrive earlier than entry time into school and will need to remain with guardian until school doors open. If you need any information on Club Rewind please contact the school at 281-897-4500.
Instructions Begins - 8:00 a.m.
As we begin our spring schedules, it is important to ensure that students are in class ready to learn each and every day by 8:00 a.m. Last semester we had excessive tardies and so we have made it our goal this semester to decrease that number. Although there are several options for morning transportation to school, please remember CFISD does offer bus service for all students.
Dismissal Begins - 3:30 p.m.
On these first few days back, please be patient as we begin procedures once again for keeping our students safe. It is important that all of our students dismiss safely for the end of day. The administrative team works to facilitate the procedures for all areas of dismissal and appreciates the support of our community. As a reminder, no changes to transportation are made after 2:30 p.m. If you need support please contact the school at 281-897-4500.
LEAD SAFELY UPDATE
Dear CFISD Community,
As we return to school, we want to remind you of our health and safety protocols that were developed in collaboration with local medical experts and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC).
COVID-19 Testing
CFISD will resume free rapid COVID-19 testing for CFISD staff and students at the SRC location on Sunday, Jan. 2, and the Berry Center and Pridgeon drive-thru locations on Monday, Jan. 3. Registration is required for staff and students. For hours of operation and to register for testing, please see http://www.cfisd.net/c19testing.
Masks
Because face mask mandates are not legally permissible in Texas, face masks continue to be optional for all students and staff. Due to the high transmission rate of the Omicron variant, masks are strongly encouraged while indoors on our campuses.
Isolation
On Monday, Dec. 27, the CDC released new guidance for people with COVID-19 that shortens the recommended time for isolation from 10 days to 5 days if fever (100.0o F or above) has been absent for at least 24 hours without using fever-reducing medication. Therefore, CFISD will be modifying the “Isolation and Readmission Criteria Protocol” in the LEAD Safely plan accordingly.
Self-monitoring for Symptoms
Students and staff must monitor daily for symptoms of COVID-19 and stay home when sick. If COVID-19 symptoms are experienced, individuals must not report to work or school, and test for COVID-19 or consult with a licensed healthcare provider.
Symptoms of COVID-19 include:
· Cough
· Sore throat
· Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
· Loss of taste/smell
· Nasal congestion
· Headache
· Fever at or above 100°F
· Vomiting/diarrhea
Hand Hygiene
Students and staff will be frequently reminded to wash hands thoroughly and often, cover coughs and sneezes, and use hand sanitizer throughout the day. All classrooms are equipped with hand sanitizer dispensers, in addition to building and cafeteria entrances and buses.
We appreciate your patience as we continue to navigate this pandemic together and look forward to welcoming students back to class on Tuesday, Jan. 4.
Sincerely,
CFISD Communication
Lunch Visitors - Begins Tuesday, January 18
Parent lunch visitors will resume on Tuesday, January 18. Changes that are being considered include: number of visitors per student, days allowed, and possible sign up to ensure seating is available for school guests.
We will communicate all information to parents prior to the first date back with visitors during lunch.
Thank you for patience and understanding as we work together for a safe and healthy return for all of our Eagles: students, staff, and parents.
