Students in grades 3rd-5th will begin the state testing called the Forward test. The window runs from March 18-April 26. The teachers are working hard on a schedule that will best suit our learners. This will be shared with you once finalized. In addition, we want to stress the importance of the students simply taking it seriously and giving their best effort. We will be supplying some nutritious snacks and fun assemblies to keep them motivated and persevering through the test. Purdy students will rock the test! Thanks for supporting their efforts at home as well through a good night's sleep and encouragement!

Public Schools Week and February Share a Positive!
THANK YOU! So many families shared a positive compliment to a staff member, and joined in the Public Schools Week celebration. Too often, we forget to say "thank you" for a job well done or a time when support was given. THANK you for sharing those positives. Our staff was lifted up by the words of many! Here are a couple samples that put smiles on our faces (and there were MANY more)!
Educator and Staff Shout Outs! Below are some of the kind words we received!
Direct quotes from families:
"I am so proud of the progress my son has shown with the expertise that Mrs. Hoye puts into her teaching everyday. He loves going to school and we see him doing amazing things each day. Thanks to Mrs. Hoye and the other adults he is surrounded with at Purdy!"
"Keri Adelmeyer is a strong educator who creates a classroom environment like no other. She puts thought into every decision, making sure her students are of top priority. She creates a classroom that values acceptance, appreciation, and a place where all students are the best version of themselves. It is also notable how Mrs. Adelmeyer is dedicated to her craft of teaching and empowers students to grow as confident learners. We are proud to call Mrs. Adelmeyer is an exceptional teacher leader within the school district of Fort Atkinson."
"I want to shout out Ms. Judy in the office as she has always been so kind for taking the extra time to help out my daughter with all her needs when she’s just having a bad day or needs someone to talk to. Ms. Judy has always been so kind and is always willing to give a helping hand to make my daughters day better. I am very sad that this will be my last year working with Ms. Judy as my daughter is going to the middle school this fall. I can not say thank you enough for her kind and caring patience with my daughter. I will never be able to thank her enough for the dedication she takes to make sure each and every student is happy and she always takes extra measures to make sure their needs are taken care of. Ms. Judy has been a godsend to my family these last 6 years by going the extra mile. So thank you, thank you, thank you Ms. Judy I will miss you immensely."
"I want to recognize Mrs Bare and the whole care team for their wonderful care and support for our kids. They are absolutely wonderful at creating a safe environment for kids who are having a difficult time. The other day my son was having a full meltdown at pickup time, and they were so helpful in helping to give him space to have his feelings and calm himself down while also making sure that nobody would get hurt. I can tell how much the whole staff cares about the kids! Thank you so much for being so helpful, caring, and patient!"
"Mrs.Hoye is exceptional! Such a love for education she shares with her students. Her kind and bright personality has made this school year very enjoyable for (my child)! Thank you Mrs. Hoye!"
"Annette Hoye is a turning point to our son’s education. She is a passionate educator who strives daily to make her students feel that they belong, they have a purpose, and they are cared for. Her genuine demeanor sets her apart with her patience and persistence, giving children a fresh start each day. She offers hope on those most challenging days and pours her heart into making the most subtle, yet profound impact, without even knowing it. Our family will be forever grateful!"
"I attended the archery meet yesterday and am just blown away by the amount of work that he, Ms. Pierce, Ms. Judy, and many others put into that meet. I know that Mr. Jensen puts many, many hours into archery club and it is so appreciated. Seeing those kids compete, demonstrate sportsmanship, and demonstrate safety in that setting was nothing short of incredible. And there's no doubt in my mind that it's thanks to his leadership. Please know that it is SO appreciated!!"
"My hope is that all the teachers (and you!) have a fabulous week of receiving thanks for being a fabulous public school, and I also really truly hope this referendum passes!"
Rotary Educator of the Month
Our very own Mrs. Ashley Stewart has been chosen as the Rotary Educator of the Month for March! Mrs. Stewart gives her whole heart to educating and supporting the students of Purdy Elementary. She works tirelessly to support the social emotional learning of our students through delivering guidance lessons, supporting small social groups, one to one support sessions, planning all school events, delivering "smarty packs" of food, and supporting the staff and students at Purdy! When students identify safe adults in our school, Mrs. Stewart is one of the first to be named! We are pleased to recognize her dedication to Purdy and the entire 1Fort district as we honor her and her work in March as the Rotary Educator of the Month!

BAND BOOSTER MEETING
All parents of students participating in the band are automatically considered “Band Booster” members, and are welcome at ALL Booster Meetings! Our next meeting is: Wednesday, March 20th at 6:00 PM High School Music Pod. We hope to have parents representing students from all grade levels, and would love to have you there!
Attendance Matters!
Per Board policy, a guardian can excuse their child for up to 10 days for any reason. After 10 days, written excuses for absences are sought. School attendance is important to the academic and social emotional growth of all students! Our days are filled with standards based instruction appropriate to the age of every student. We understand illness, medical appointments and family need to be out of school at times. This is why the 10 absence rule is in place. However, missing core lessons consistently in math, reading, writing, social studies and science can impact your child's ability to feel confident in learning the grade level content. Please make every effort to have your child attend school on time throughout the school year. Should your child have to miss, please call the office and report the absence and reason.
The Buddy Bench!
The Buddy Bench, in honor of Jackie Foelker's (paraprofessional at Purdy) son, Tyler, has been placed outside for all who need a friend!
4th Grade Trip to our Capital!
In accordance with their studies, the fourth grade students were able to travel to our Capital in Madison this past month! Students experienced learning around our Governmental procedures and were able to see first hand the building where these meetings take place. We were also so proud of the way our students represented themselves and Purdy! Several compliments were heard about how well our students behaved! Purdy PROUD!
Team Time
Throughout the year we work as an all school community and learn about traits of being good citizens. In addition, classes work together in multiage groups to work on collaboration and cooperation! We held our first team time last month! Below are some pictures from the afternoon!
