Please order packages for our Family Fun Night today as there are savings for the color runs, for the food, and for free throws at the dunk tank. Be sure to invite your friends, including our incoming 6th grade elementary families!
Aristotle once said, "We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act but a habit." At Faubion Middle School, we make excellence a habit, and we are kind. Parents, thank you for partnering with us in helping your children build quality habits so they will become the leaders of our future.
Go Lions!
- Mr. Boom
Congratulations to our Dance Team!
Congratulations to our Faubion Rhythmettes Dance Team! This past weekend, our girls shined on the regional stage. All 12 routines received superior ratings. Extra shoutout to Zoe Bradley and Kolby Kristufek whose solos placed for their division and to Alexis Dupre and Kolby Kristukek whose duet also placed. In just six weeks, our dance team will compete at Nationals in Arlington, affording them the opportunity to defend their two consecutive national titles. We love all the consistent work that our ladies and coaches show every day that result in their earning accolades on the biggest stage. Congratulations!
If you are interested in joining the National Champion Faubion Rhythmettes drill team next year, you must complete and submit this APPLICATION form by March 1st. Mandatory tryouts will take place March 4th-7th from 4-6pm in the FMS Gym, if there is rain, tryouts will take place in the FMS Cafeteria.

Faubion Family Fun Night - March 22!
The excitement for this year's Faubion Family Fun Night is growing! With our students performing on the City of McKinney's traveling performance stage, Rollins Street being blocked off, and many staff taking a plunge in the dunk tank, this will be a night to remember! At this very exciting event, we will also have three color runs (one for elementary, one for 6th grade, and one for 7th/8th grade), a color battle to close the evening, an In-N-Out Food truck, a Kona Ice truck, a DJ, and carnival games, you and your family will not forget this night!
Please visit this LINK and pre-order, as you will have savings and added benefits by ordering early. We will draw three names at the end of February for extra special prizes to be provided by Mr. Boom. Proceeds will support the Faubion PTO as they provide fun experiences for our students and fellowship opportunities for the entire community.
MISD Spanish Spelling Bee Winners!
Collin County Mock Trial at the Courthouse
Faubion was well represented at the Collin County 8th grade Mock Trial! Our scholars had the opportunity to participate in the criminal process, preparing a case as both plaintiff and defendant. Our students did not find out until immediately before the proceedings which side they were supporting. What an action-packed and exciting day! Kudos to the 8th grade ELAR team for this amazing opportunity for our students.
Teacher and Staff of the Month!
Congratulations to our Teacher and Staff Member of the Month!
Our Teacher of the Month is: Brooke Riley!
Our nominating students shared:
"I feel that this teacher should get recognized as teacher member of the month because she came and stepped in as our theatre teacher in the middle of the year and has adapted very quickly to the students she is working with."
"She has made theatre fun and educational. Not to mention the stress she has been undergoing because of the late start at putting together the theatre One Act Play, and yet being able to put together an amazing performance."
"From her upbeat personality to her hard work and dedication she deserves teacher of the month."
Our Staff Member of the Month is: Officer Silas!
Our nominating staff members shared:
"She is awesome with the kids and really supportive."
"Officer Silas keeps our students and staff safe. We are lucky to have Officer Silas here at Faubion.
Officer Silas is always so helpful, professional, and responsive. I always appreciate her support and collaboration."
"Officer Silas is always down to help, whether it is mischief or answering phones. You can always count on her!"
Congratulations to both of our fabulous employees!

The WOW Positive Behavior Program
Stanford University professor Carol Dweck conducted a study to determine the impact of recognition. She found that applauding effort is more beneficial for students in building a growth mindset than recognizing positive outcomes. Since we want our students to do their best every day, we celebrate effort by acknowledging students both in the classroom and throughout the entire school. We hold random drawings every Wednesday to select winners. So far this year, over 8,000 positive student actions have been acknowledged by teachers!!
Chick-Fil-A, Dillas, Market Street of McKinney, Jeremiah's in McKinney, CUTX, New York Life, our PTO, the Faubion Orchestra, and Tropical Smoothie Cafe are contributing to the cause! If you know of a local for-profit or non-profit business or individual that would like to donate items or money, please let us know. We would love to highlight those who impact our work in building the leaders of our future!
Faubion PTO
Our PTO goes above and beyond time and time again. From showing love to teachers to organizing school dances to helping with school programming, our PTO is the best! Parents, if you have not contributed/joined the PTO, please go to the Faubion PTO website and join! We also need parent volunteers to come help this fabulous team of hard-working and organized parents. Please visit www.faubionpto.com for all of the latest and greatest information! Our PTO meets the second Tuesday of every month at FMS, so please help contribute to our school community.
Cell Phone Policy
Cell Phone Policy - At your convenience, please listen to the Simon Sinek video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xNgQOHwsIbg) about the harmful effects of cell phones and the importance of interpersonal communication. We do not allow cell phones or ear buds to be out during classroom periods. We also do not allow cell phones in restrooms. Please help us reinforce this expectation, as we want to engage your child in high-quality instruction from bell-to-bell in every class, every day.
