A note about STAAR testing
Parents,
Our first STAAR test is quickly approaching (only two weeks!) On testing days, it is very important that students remain seated and silent during their test as well as after finishing their test. Not all students finish at the same time but the importance of others testing remains. Once a student finishes their test, they are only allowed to read or put their head down. They may get restless and begin to wiggle or talk! Please help us by stressing to your student the importance of remaining quiet and as still as possible. Once enough students are finished that we can move a manageable group to another testing area to complete, we will most definitely do that so those who have completed can relax, talk, and move around. But we must provide a silent space for all students to focus and do their best--we need your help!
Check School Cash Online
Parents,
Please check your child's school cash online for items such as ID fees and other payments that may need to be taken care of at this time. The semester will end in just 8 short weeks and all fees and fines must be cleared! Thank you!
Important Eclipse Information--Please read!
Dear Parents,
We are so excited as a campus on Monday, April 8th, to experience the upcoming total solar eclipse, also known as the “Great American Eclipse.”
This is a rare opportunity to witness the sun being completely blocked by the moon. While we are aware that our area is not over the direct path that will experience the entire blocking, we still want our students to have the opportunity to witness this event.
The eclipse glasses were provided to all of our student within two hours of the email going out. We are so GRATEFUL for this community!
Here is a breakdown of the eclipse timings:
Partial Eclipse Begins: 12:30 PM
Totality Begins: 1:40 PM (This is when the total eclipse will be visible in our area, also when we plan on having our students outside viewing the eclipse.)
Totality Ends: 1:44 PM (The total eclipse will only last for 4 minutes)
Partial Eclipse Ends: 3:00 PM
Safety:
During the eclipse, looking directly at the sun can cause serious eye damage. To ensure student safety, we will also show a safety video to students this week and they will be expected to wear their special glasses. However, to make sure all permitted students can participate, we would appreciate your support.
Permission Form:
Please click the buttons below for the permission forms (in english and spanish) and print a form for your student. This permission form is mandatory for student participation. This form is due back to each student’s 7th period teacher by Tuesday, April 2, 2024. This will allow our campus the proper time to prepare and sort out all safety logistics for this amazing event. Students whose parents opt-out of the viewing will not be allowed to participate, but instead, will go to the cafeteria.
Track Meet Results
On Wednesday night, our athletes competed against Tomball JH, WillowWood JH and Grand Lakes JH in a battle of Tomball ISD.
Our 8th grade boys and girls divisions won 1st place, and our 7th grade boys and girls both finished in 2nd place!
Please take a moment and join me in celebrating there accomplishments as we head into our final District Championship Meet next Thursday and Friday!
Ishika does it AGAIN!
8th grade CPJH student, Ishika Varipilla, won the Houston Community College Scripps Spelling Bee on March 23. Her winning word was "scrannel." We are beyond proud of her! She will move on to Nationals in Washington, D.C. on May 28. Best of luck!!

Return Library Books
Parents,
Our librarian, Mrs. Walker, let us know that there are MANY books overdue. For Spring cleaning, could you please help your student look for any lost books? She would like to ensure that books can be enjoyed by many students for years to come! These need to be returned as soon as possible.
8th Grade Parents - Did you know your child's library books need to be returned or paid for prior to 8th grade graduation for your child to participate? It's SO important to take care of this now.
All library books will be due on May 15th, so the library can begin inventory. Thank you so much!
Read for Adventure!
For the second year in a row, we are partnering with Geronimo Adventure Park to participate in their 2024 Read for Adventure program! We hope you’re excited to “Unplug & Clip In” with reading and active play every day!
See the attached flyer and reading log. (There will be copies if this in the library for anyone interested, or you are welcome to print a copy at home.)
Fun fact: Any books you read count for this program AND the 40 Book Challenge. I love two-for-one things!! Happy Reading!

Pay for ID Tags
Parents,
If students are issued a temporary ID because he/she left it at home, the fee is $1 per tag. Some students have forgotten their ID multiple times, so fees are adding up. We check for IDs for every student in two locations each morning and temporary IDs are issued to those students who do not have theirs. Lanyards are $2, protective sleeves are $1, and a new replacement set (with all items) is $8. Please check your school cash online accounts to make payments as we are no longer accepting cash for these items; they are automatically charged to your child's school cash online. (We do keep a spreadsheet of that if parents ever need to see what dates specifically their student was in need of any of these items.) If your students is an athlete, please reinforce that they must take the ID home in the afternoons by placing that in their backpack instead of locker!
No Cell Phones in the Hallway
Please remind your students that cell phones should be kept in their backpacks when they are transitioning anywhere in the building. This includes going to lunch.
Item Deliveries and Lunches
We are experiencing a huge influx of items being dropped off for students in the front foyer, and front office staff is overwhelmed with allowing entry for each parent that is delivering items to students (lunches, water bottles, homework, IDs, etc). Also, if your student is unaware that you are delivering items for them, we cannot inform them or deliver the item to them. As we settle more into routines, we hope this improves. We do have water fountains available for use and we will issue temporary IDs in the event they forget theirs.
As a reminder, if your student forgets their lunch at home, they will be allowed to charge a meal in the cafeteria to their schoolcafe account (link to the parent portal and schoolcafe is below). **No Doordash or UberEats deliveries are allowed for students. Any food dropped off for a student must be an individual meal for your student only (no extra food or drink for others is allowed). No pizza deliveries are allowed for students.
New State Law and Vaping Communication
Texas House Bill 114 was passed by the Texas legislature last spring and requires school to place students in the District Alternative Education Program (DAEP) any student who is in possession of, uses, sells, gives, or delivers an e-cigarette (or vape) on school grounds or at any school related event. What this means for your student is that if your student has an e-cigarette (even if nothing is in it) on school grounds or at a school related event, he or she will be recommended for a DAEP placement of at least 10 days. Your student is responsible for any item in his or her possession, even if it does not belong to your student. **To note, this means just the device alone will result in DAEP; it does not have to contain any nicotine or THC at all. Please talk to your student about not "holding" anything for anyone, and to guard their backpacks/lunch boxes/possessions at all times. Lockers in pe/athletics must be locked at all times.
**Please see the district letter below for full information**
