Parent Update
Hello KRMS families,
I hope everyone is enjoying their winter vacation. As a reminder, our second trimester ends on Friday, March 22, 2024. Please continue to check your child's grades on JumpRope so there are no surprises come the time report cards are emailed home. It is our hope that fewer students will allow missing assignments to accumulate and will establish stronger work habits as they work through the end of the school year. We know that absences have presented challenges for many students and will work together with them to find solutions that will help them get caught up.

The winter was a busy time for Kingswood athletes on the snow and courts. Special recognition to our alpine ski team who won the middle school state championship for the first time in 35 years! Spring sports will be starting up soon. Baseball and softball tryouts will most likely be the week of March 12th. However, there is chance that we have to push back the tryouts to the week of the 25th. Our athletic department will be in touch once dates are finalized. Track and field will begin the week of the March 25th.
In a display of exceptional mathematical prowess, twelve students from Kingswood Regional Middle School recently participated in the highly acclaimed American Mathematics Competition (AMC). The competition, known for its challenging problems that test students' problem-solving skills and mathematical reasoning, saw Kingswood's students rise to the occasion. It also emphasizes our school's commitment to fostering a challenging and supportive learning environment that encourages students to excel in STEM fields.
We are proud to announce the winners for our National History Day School Competition that will be going on to represent KRMS at the State Competition at Plymouth State University in April. I also wanted to make you aware of a change to the CDC COVID guidelines. As of March 1st the CDC is no longer recommending the 5 day isolation period for individuals testing positive for COVID and is instead moving COVID into the respiratory virus category of recommendations similar to flu and RSV for the general public. Going forward, we will no longer recommend a 5 day isolation as a district. We will treat COVID as any other respiratory virus meaning; if you are sick please keep you child home, if your child has a fever they need to remain fever free for 24 hours without the use of medication prior to returning into the building. Please reach out if you have any questions.
If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me directly here at the school. Thank you all for your continued support and cooperation. Looking forward to seeing everyone back in the building on Monday March 4th.
Sincerely,
Kerry Hunt
