Solar Eclipse
The Dover Area School District would like to share information with families regarding the 2024 Total Eclipse expected to occur on Monday, April 8, 2024, between 2:05 and 4:33 pm so you are prepared. As you may know, a total solar eclipse occurs when the Moon passes between the Sun and Earth, completely blocking the face of the Sun. This is an exciting scientific and educational event that will not occur again for many years!
Dover may see 91% sun coverage at 3:21 pm. Due to the timing of the eclipse, the High School and Middle School dismissals will not be affected. If parents of elementary school children would be more comfortable, they may consider picking children up after 2:30 pm, as max percent coverage is scheduled for Dover at 3:21 pm. A note will be required in advance.
Eye Safety
Eye safety precautions are paramount during the eclipse and should be followed when viewing indoors and outdoors. Everyone should take the necessary precautions to protect their vision. Please visit https://science.nasa.gov/eclipses/safety/ for important safety information.
There are many informative resources available for families who wish to learn more about this event:

DASD Fund Request Form
The District has created a standard refund request form that can be used by families when they request a refund of any kind from the District. The form has also been posted to the District website under the General Documents & Forms section of the Parent Resources page and the Documents & Forms section of the District Nutrition Services page. Families can return the completed form to their student's building or directly to the business office. This form is necessary when requesting funds back from a lunch account after a student graduates and has no younger siblings.
