Education Week 2022
Tuesday 13 September
Our delayed Education Week has almost arrived, and we are very excited to open our doors and classrooms to our school community on Tuesday 13 September 2022. Education Week is an opportunity for public schools to showcase some of the fantastic things that happen on a regular basis in our schools and to invite families to come into our school. The theme for Education Week 2022 is “Creating futures – education changes lives” and I think this is very appropriate, as we work hand in hand with our students and families to create a positive path in learning and life.
For the last two years, this event has either not occurred or been highly modified. 2022 finds us returning to a much more “normal” Education Week and we look forward to a special day for students and families. This year, we will be conducting open classrooms. Open classrooms, for the many who have missed out in previous years, means that families will be able to go into their child’s class, engage with some of their learning and see the real learning that we see happening every day. We hope many families will be able to join us.
Open Classrooms will occur as follows:
- 9:30am to 10:00am - Early Stage 1
- 10:00am to 10:30am – Stage 1
- 10:30am to 11:00am – Stage 2
- 11:00am to 11:30am – Recess
- Feel free to join us for a relaxing break – bring a picnic blanket and enjoy! K-2 Parents, please join your child on the K-2 synthetic grass area.
- 11:30am to 12:00pm – Stage 3
Whilst we are very excited to welcome our community within our school and classes, we continue to have to make ongoing adjustments to comply with COVID safe practices. These include:
- Sanitiser available on entry and throughout the school, to be used at your discretion.
- Face masks available and highly encouraged to be worn whilst in classrooms.
- Family members who have symptoms of illness are not to attend.
- We ask those families who are not joining their child/ren for recess, to please depart the school grounds at the conclusion of the open classroom session, to minimise additional people on site, where possible.
- Class teachers encouraged to hold lessons outside, where and if possible (weather and space dependent).
- There is no requirement for any attendee to sign in on the day.
Thank you for supporting us with these practices, which will provide ongoing safety measures for our students, staff and community.
We look forward to seeing many families join us on the day for what will be a highlight on the 2022 school calendar.
