Student Technology (iPads)
Greetings Lakeview,
We hope this message finds you well! We wanted to quickly touch base regarding our students iPad usage to ensure a smooth and productive learning experience.
Recently, we've noticed a few instances where some of our students are walking around without keyboards or with cracked screens on their iPads. To address this, we have asked teachers to collect any iPads with these issues and submit them while our campus technician is on-site for maintenance.
Why is this important? Well, the keyboard isn't just for typing! It also doubles as a protective screen cover. Without it, the risk of damage increases significantly. In fact, if an iPad is broken without the keyboard attached, it may result in the student being charged the full replacement cost, even if it's covered by insurance. This is part of the agreement signed by parents.
We greatly appreciate your help in reinforcing these guidelines with your child. By working together, we can ensure our educational technology resources are well-maintained and ready to support our students' learning.Your support means the world to us! If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out.
Thank you for partnering with us in your child's education!
Regards,
Lakeview Middle School Admin Team
Eclipse Experience
On Monday, April 8, Dallas will be the largest city in the path of totality for the once-in-a-lifetime Great North American Eclipse. We are excited to share this milestone with our students, and we want to make sure they are able to experience the eclipse in a safe manner.
In the early afternoon on April 8, students will have the opportunity to go outside to view the eclipse. The Perot Museum has generously donated protective eyewear for each student to wear, and our campus staff will monitor students to ensure the eyewear is on correctly before inviting students outside. The eyewear provided from the Perot Museum is thousands of times darker than standard sunglasses to protect students from the concentrated solar rays. To learn more about safety considerations associated with the eclipse, including skin protection, click here.
If you do not wish for your student to view the eclipse, please fill out THIS FORM by Friday, April 5. In lieu of going outside, students who are opted out will be able to watch NASA’s live stream of the event in our cafeteria.
We are excited for our students to experience this once-in-a-lifetime event and witness science in action! As always, parents are the ultimate decision-makers on whether or not their students will attend school. If you choose to keep your student home to view the eclipse, it will count as one of your 10 parent notes. If you have any additional questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us.
