HOLY ROSARY NEWSLETTER
Term 4 Week 3 - 30 October 2020
FROM GEORDIE
Hey there everyone from a bright and sunny Holy Rosary.
Our first taste of summer to finish off a great week. Our students have been in great form and our Year 2 students entertained us with an excellent assembly this morning. With the weather heating up, please remember to send everyone with a hat and sunscreen. We have extra sunscreen in our classes as well so please reinforce how important it is at home where you can.
Our Stage 11 Build took a big forward step this week with some HUGE help from Councillor Elizabeth Re. As I have mentioned in previous newsletters, we have been working really hard in the background to get our project moving for the benefit of our students and this week I met with Elizabeth and members of the planning department at the City of Stirling which has got us moving again.
Down in the church, the re-roofing is well under way. The crane driver threw a spanner in the works for the drive through when he needed to change his position at 7.45am, however, everyone was flexible and made it work with a smile on their face. Thanks so much for your support of the school and parish. This Wednesday the crane will be back and at this stage we believe that drive-through will be business as usual. Having said this, we are asking parents not to park in the carpark and to use Hale Hockey where they can. The crane may need to move into the carpark and we will keep you up to date as best and as early as we can.
Finally, thanks to all the parents for making a fuss of our AMAZING teachers for World Teacher Day today. I could not ask for a more dedicated, professional, enthusiastic, flexible, funny and caring staff to work with in my first year as principal. It has been a very different 12 months to what we were all expecting, however, when you have excellent people in your community problems never seem as stressful. HUGE thanks to all the staff here at HR!
Have a great weekend!

Please note that if children are playing outside without a hat, they will be directed to a designated shade area. School Hats can be purchased from the school office for $15.00 (CARD ONLY).
We recommend that children come to school wearing sunscreen in the summer months. Sunscreen is also available for re-application in the classrooms.
POLICY AND COMPLIANCE NOTICES
Protective Behaviours
Most classes have now completed the protective behaviours program, Holding Hands. The protective behaviours program is a personal safety program aiming to empower children with strategies to promote safety and resilience.
We finished off the program with a Constable Care incursion on Monday. Year One – Year Three watched the “Fun Scary” performance. Through puppetry and song, this performance teaches students the difference between scary things that are fun (like rollercoasters) and those scary secrets that we need to tell a trusted adult about.
Year Four – Year Six watched the performance “Screen Name” which uses the world of online gaming as the backdrop to remind students about making sure to stay safe on the internet.

It’s a great way to learn more about the school, meet other parents, have some fun and give back to our community.
Please find any member of the P&F to have a chat to about it or send us an email with any questions.
We would also love to have parent reps in place by the time we start school in 2021.
So if you are considering taking on this role which involves communicating with class parents, organising social functions and coordinating a part of one of the school’s community events, please get in contact with Michele in the office.
If you have any questions about what joining the P&F or being a Parent Rep involves email our P&F President, Anita Carr at holyrosaryhelpers@gmail.com
