Kids Heart Challenge
Tuesday is the final day for the Kids Heart Challenge! We still need 10 students to sign up and 2 students to complete Finn's challenge.
Students and staff are excited to get going on helping kids with special hearts and learning how to take care of our own. If you haven’t already, JOIN OUR TEAM at heart.org/schools or by downloading the AHA Schools app. We have some BIG Goals this year to help make an impact in honor of the American Heart Association’s 100th year. We have a chance to earn our school a BONUS $500 for purchasing new PE equipment if we can get HALF the school registered (it’s FREE to register!) Please help us by taking two minutes to finish registering your child. Additionally, we will be celebrating at the end of our Kids Heart Challenge with a PIE Day. Students will get the chance to pie their teachers when they help raise money to support those in our lives affected by heart disease. Once you’re on the team, be sure to complete Finn’s Mission. That’s where you’ll learn the lifesaving skill of Hands-Only CPR, which when given immediately can double (even triple) a person’s chance of surviving cardiac arrest. Other missions will help you raise funds for kids with special hearts and learn the warning signs of a stroke. As always, our students will have the opportunity to earn thank-you gifts for themselves and funds and equipment for our school. Join us today!

All donations will be given to the Freedom Foundation to help support the veterans. Please check today's electronic backpack for the flyer explaining the days and what the different items the students can bring in each day. All students that participate and bring in at least one item (they can bring in as many as they would like) will receive a free dress pass. Only one free dress pass will be issued no matter how many items your child brings in. Thank you for your help in making the first grade service learning project a success!!
Third Grade Coin War
As part of their service learning project, the third grade students in Mrs. Green's class held a coin war this past week to see which grade level could collect the most money. All proceeds will be given to the Cedar Valley Human Society. All of the students did a great job with donating their coins/money. The winning class will be treated to a special reward of their choice such as extra recess, comfy/cozy day, etc., to be announced soon. Stay tuned to see which grade level won the contest.
Thank You
A special thank you to the Ruden family (Josephine in 2nd grade and Madison in PK3) for treating the teachers and staff to some yummy girl scout cookies this week. Your kindness and generosity is appreciated and the staff really enjoyed the special treat!

Special message for 4th grade parents:
Join the Father Daughter Dance Committee!
We hope this message finds you well! As we gear up for another wonderful Father Daughter Dance, we are reaching out to invite you to become a part of our committee. We’re excited to extend this opportunity to parents of 4th grade Students. Our aim is to cultivate volunteers for this year’s dance but also be ready to take over the reins in the coming years. We envision a seamless transition where the expertise and insights gained through participating this year and next year will empower you to lead the event from Spring 2025 onwards.
Joining the committee offers a chance to:
- Collaborate with fellow parents to create memorable experiences for our daughters and their fathers.
- Ensure the sustainability and growth of this cherished tradition for years to come.
Your involvement is crucial to the success and continuity of the Father Daughter Dance. We welcome your enthusiasm and dedications.
If you’re interested in joining the committee or would like to learn more, please don’t hesitate to reach out to Brigitte Phillips at bphillips1@onmediaadsales.com or (319)310-7875.
Thank you and we look forward to creating unforgettable memories for our daughters!

STAFF OF THE MONTH
The Staff person of the month for March is……Tammy Schnieders!!! Congratulations!! Ms. Schnieders was nominated by not one but two of her peers last fall when the garden was in full swing! Here is what her peers had to say about her:
- She planned a good size garden in the back of LaSalle middle school, but she also taught students how to care for and produce numerous nevqtables. She leads the charge in distributing them to families on Fridays.
- She has done a stellar job with the garden at LaSalle middle school. The kids have learned so much, and the families have all reaped the rewards of fresh vegetables from the garden. And just this past week Tammy took home the remaining beets and carrots, canned them, and is bringing back the jars to pass out to families this Friday.
