The Tiger Times
Walnut Hill Elementary - January 25, 2021 - Volume XV
Principal Announcements
When students are experiencing challenges with technology and are unable to log on for the day, parents please be sure to inform the teacher on the day the student was having challenges logging on. If we are informed on the same day the students were having difficulty the absence will not count against the student.
A technology support person is at the school on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 8:30 to 10:30 to provide technology support. You may come to the school between those times to get technology support, otherwise please seek support from the help desk.
The second nine weeks ends on February 2nd, so if there are assignments that need to be completed, please be sure to submit for review.

SEL for the week of January 18th
Our SEL domain last week was Social Skills with a focus on Fairness. Fairness is the starting place for all social skills. In fact, our society is founded on the idea that everyone has the right to fair and equal treatment of their race, age, gender, abilities, or beliefs. Young students begin to understand fairness by learning to share and take turns. As students mature, they develop an understanding that equality is treating everyone the same; whereas fairness is providing everyone what he or she needs to succeed. Students have been examining their role in promoting fairness and equality in their sphere of influence. Some strategies for ensuring human rights include:
Know Your Rights Knowing your rights is important for getting your needs met. Read, ask people, and do some research on your rights.
Respect the Rights of All People
Just as it is important to understand your own rights, it is important to respect that everyone else has the same rights.
Speak Out Against Unfair Treatment for Yourself and Others
When the rights of anyone or any group of people are violated, all of our rights are brought into question.
K &1st - "This Little Light of Mine"
2nd & 3rd - "We Shall Overcome"
4th & 5th - "Lift Every Voice and Sing"
Please reach out to Ms. Wickert at the email address provided if you have any questions.
