Lord and Lady Montague
People should not allow old problems to get in the way
Act 1 Scene 1
Lady Montague is speaking to Lord Montague to keep him from attacking the Capulets. "(Lord Montague)Thou villain Capulet - Hold me not, let me go.(Lady Montague) Thou shalt not stir one foot to seek a foe"(Act 1, Scene 1, p.996, lines 85-88). Montague allowed the feud against the Capulets to anger him enough to want to fight after a small skirmish.
Benvolio is speaking to Montague because Montague wants to know who reopened the argument."Here were the servants of your adversary And your, close fighting....Who set this ancient quarrel new abroach"(Act 1, Scene 1, P 997, lines 113-115). The old argument was the cause of much fighting and the Prince is upset with them for fighting each other.
Act 5 Scene 3
Lord Montague is speaking to the Prince who is taking him to his son."Alass, my liege, my wife is dead tonight; Grief of my sons exile hath stopped her breath"(Act 5, Scene 3 P. 1099, lines 232-233 ). With the feud Tybalt and Mercutio would have never fought so Romeo would have never killed Tybalt and never been exiled so Lady Montague would be fine along with Mercutio and Tybalt.
Theme
"But I give thee more; For I will raise her statue in pure gold....As rich shall Romeo's by his lady's lie.... A glooming peace this this morning with it brings "(Act 5, Scene 3, P 1102 lines 322-330). Once the Capulets and Montague made up peace was secured and life was much easier without old feuds affecting the Montague and Capulets
