Hope You Had A Great Break | LAST CHANCE FOR BRICK PURCHASES
March 29, 2024
From the Desk of Superintendent, Dr. Kevin S. Miller
Dear Licking Heights Families,
I hope that Spring Break has provided you with a well-deserved opportunity for relaxation and quality time spent with family and friends. Our team at Licking Heights is ready to take on the last two months of the 2023-24 school year with you, and we look forward to all we will accomplish together as this year comes to a close.
As a reminder, this is your LAST CHANCE to participate in our brick paver fundraiser benefiting the Music Boosters, Athletic Boosters, and PTO. All bricks will be placed at the front entrance of our brand-new Athletic Complex, and all profits go directly to student support organizations. This initiative not only allows you to leave a lasting legacy on our school grounds, but also contributes directly to the educational experience and extracurricular opportunities for our students.
If you haven't had the chance to contribute yet, there's still time–our fundraiser will close at 11:59 p.m. on SUNDAY, MARCH 31. Your support, whether through purchasing a brick or spreading the word to friends and family, will help us achieve our shared goal of providing enriching experiences for all students. Purchase your brick by clicking the button below!
Finally, we want to celebrate the religious diversity of our community and recognize current and upcoming holidays and holy days observed by our students and families.
We wish our Christian families observing Easter a reflective weekend during Good Friday and Holy Saturday, and a joyful Resurrection Sunday. Our Hindu families celebrated Holi earlier this week, and we hope this Festival of Spring brought both light and happiness to you and your loved ones. We wish our Muslim families and students a holy Ramadan time of prayer, fasting, and reflection, and for our Jewish families, we hope that April will bring you a blessed Passover celebration.
Once again, I wish you all a safe, happy, and restful last few days of Spring Break. May it be filled with laughter, relaxation, and cherished moments that bring you closer together as a family.
Sincerely,
Dr. Kevin S. Miller, Superintendent

REMINDER: IMMUNIZATIONS REQUIRED BY LAW FOR SCHOOL
Immunizations protect both individuals and the general public against communicable diseases. Ohio law requires that a child be immunized against a number of diseases in order to attend school. Parents/guardians are responsible for providing records that show that immunizations have been administered.
The health services department has provided notification if your child is not compliant with their immunizations. This information was either sent home with your child or provided via phone or email.
Most required immunizations are available at doctors’ offices, pharmacies, and walk-in clinics. The Licking Memorial Health Center at Licking Heights also offers immunizations. To schedule an appointment at the health center, please call (220) 564-7830. The health center accepts most private insurances as well as Medicaid. If your child is uninsured, they offer financial assistance.
The health departments also offer immunizations. Please call to schedule an appointment.
- Licking County Health Department Pataskala Branch: (740) 349-6535
- Franklin County Public Health: (614) 525-3719
A child can be excused from this immunization requirement due to religious or philosophical reasons. However, an exemption form must be signed by parents/guardians. Please ensure that your child’s immunizations or exemption form is on file with the school if you have received a letter from our Health Services team.

South Elementary: Kindness is Cool at School (and Beyond)
South Elementary had a fantastic Kindness Week. Each class embraced secret Kindness Missions, spreading kindness within and beyond the school. The 2nd and 3rd grade Kindness Clubs distributed missions and adorned the hallways with posters. Classroom discussions centered on making everyone feel welcome.
West Elementary: Measuring with Mrs. Fox and Ms. Rarey
Mrs. Fox and Ms. Rarey’s math classes dove into measurement, learning liters and milliliters together. With water and measuring tools, students got hands-on with their learning, gaining a practical understanding of volume.
North Elementary: Subtraction in the Sunshine
Mr. Weber's kindergarten class at North Elementary made the most of the sunny weather by taking their math lesson outside. They practiced subtraction in the courtyard, and after the lesson, they had some fun with sensory activities.
Central Intermediate: Math is Better with Friends
Mrs. Krumholz’s sixth-grade math students worked together during math stations to solve algebraic expressions by playing a domino game. Learning is always better when it can be shared with friends.
Middle School: Learning Argumentative Writing with Mr. Niemann
Mr. Niemann's seventh-grade ELA classes uniquely tackled Argument Writing. Students worked in groups to piece together an essay that had been cut into sections. Each piece held clues to help them assemble the whole essay, putting their argument skills to the test.
High School: Preparing for the Future at Career Xpress
Junior students attended a Career Xpress conference at the high school last week. Over 40 different local employers and schools came to network with students at a job fair and lunch and learn sessions, and there were presentations from Intel Ohio and Illuminate USA. Thank you to our career partners and high school counseling team for making this event possible!
