Growing Leaders! February 1, 2021
What's Happening in the Furr Fold!
The month of January is behind us ...and we WELCOME in February. This past week was filled with student academic prowess and also school spirit. Last week was College & Career Week and FUN was had by all! This week, also filled with school spirit, is HOPE WEEK! We usher in this week with the intent to instill "HOPE" for EVERYONE! Our Hope Squad members will be spreading "Kindness" and instilling "Hope" on a daily basis. The world needs more of this and it ALL starts with one person, doing one thing that helps one person, in a POSITIVE way! The Power of ONE! The Power of Hope!
Please don't forget that this month, we will Stuff the Bus and also celebrate Valentines-Kindness Day.
During the span of this week, we celebrate National Counselor Week. Our Counselor, Mrs. Parrish, has been working hard to ensure that our campus' social emotional needs are being met. Please help us celebrate National Counselor's Week by giving her a "SHOUT-OUT" to emparrish@prosper-isd.net
THANK YOU MRS. PARRISH FOR ALL THAT YOU DO FOR FURR ELEMENTARY!!!
Valentines-Friendship Day (Celebrated on Feb. 11th) will be here before you know it! Students will be able to exchange cards the last 30 minutes of our day. PTO is selling VALENTINE GRAMS so click below to get your Valentines Gram! We are promoting friendships and "BEING KIND!. Parents, we ask that you are mindful of any food products (candy) that is brought to school with these cards. We do have students who are allergic to certain foods and we want to protect every child, at all costs.
STUFF the BUS! During the week of Feb 8-11th, Furr Elem will be collecting Diapers(Size 6) and 32/48 oz bottles of cooking oil. Please drop all items off at the front foyer of Furr Elementary.
Parents, please remember to answer the 4 Health screener questions daily. If you answer yes to any of the questions, please submit the screener and wait for our Nurse to get in touch with you. The safety and health of all of our students and staff is vital to the success of educating our children.
Our Lost & Found is GROWING! Parents, please remind your child to check the Lost & Found if they have misplaced an item of theirs. We appreciate your help!

HEALTH SCREENER.....Please look at this Daily!

FACE COVERINGS:
FACE COVERINGS @FURRELEMENTARY
Face coverings are required for all adults, 4th graders and 5th graders at Furr Elementary. We highly encourage ALL students, Pre-K to 5th grade, to wear a mask. All masks, brought from home, need to follow the PISD dress code requirements. Parents, please pack a mask in your child's backpack where it is readily accessible in case your child needs one. Thank you for your help in this matter.
Here at Furr Elementary, we will continue to follow and implement all guidelines set forth by our governor, local authorities and our district. We continue to enforce face coverings, washing hands, using hand sanitizer and social distancing on a continual basis. Please check our district website, Covid Dashboard, for any and all updates from our district.
PICKING UP YOUR STUDENT DURING SCHOOL HOURS:
PICKING UP YOUR CHILD DURING SCHOOL HOURS:
Parents that need to pick up their child from school during the school day should remain in their car and call the front desk @ 469-219-2280. School staff will then escort the child out to the car and verify identification before releasing the child.

BAD WEATHER:
Rainy Day Procedures:
Rainy Day Procedures For Furr Elementary:
1. If there is heavy rain and/or lightning at the time of dismissal, ALL walking students (including 2nd-5th graders) will be held in the students classroom until a parent picks up their student from the Gym Doors. This means you can still pick up like normal with your umbrella if you would like! At the time of the rain/lightning ending, we will allow 2nd-5th graders to walk home without supervision as they usually do. Any Kinder/1st grade students(unaccompanied) still in the building when the rain ends will be brought to the front office for a parent to pick up.
2. If a parent calls during rain at dismissal, we WILL take a transportation change (even after 1:30PM).
3. Walkers will NOT automatically be car riders. This will only happen if a transportation change comes in. If you want to be sure your child is picked up in a car, please call the office at 469-219-2280.
4. Parents, please make sure you have your transportation tag (family #). We will not release any student to an adult, without your transportation tag(family#) and an ID.
Remember, we will not let your student walk home alone in heavy rain/lightening. The safeguard is in place that if we don’t get a transportation change, the student can still be picked up from the Gym Doors by walking up with your transportation tag (family #).
Thank you for your help.
MORNING ARRIVAL:
MORNING ARRIVAL: DROPPING OFF YOUR CHILD: We have 2 areas designed for dropping off your student safely, the front (A-L) car line and the back (M-Z) car line. Please DO NOT drop your child off at the bike racks. This is not a drop off zone. Thank you for your help in this area.
