SMS Trojan News
Principal's Corner
May 18th - May 22nd
As hard as it is to believe, we are on the "downhill" side of our SMS "Learn at Home." I hope that you and your student(s) have found a rhythm to your weeks and routines to make our world of distance learning easier. Most importantly, however, I hope you are all healthy and taking care of each other as best you can.
For 8th grade students: Fortunately, we were able to forecast and schedule over 95% of our students for next year! Please be on the lookout for transition activities and videos from the high school. And we are working hard on putting together some great "Moving On/Moving Up" videos to celebrate the great accomplishment of finishing middle school! Keep working hard on your studies; that momentum will carry with you to 9th grade!
For 7th grade students: We will be sending out instructions and a Google form in the next week or two for you to forecast your classes next year. This will include the option for being an office aide, teacher's assistant, library assistant, or to enroll in advanced social studies/ELA.
For 6th grade students: Keep working hard on your studies! This will help you transition to 7th grade very well. You will also be receiving an email in the next week or two to help you transition and select some elective/exploration classes.
To everyone: Keep working hard! We're almost there, and we've done a great job working together to keep learning happening here at South. Don't forget to turn in your submissions for Trojan Follies! Follow the link here for more information! And...word on the street is that another Virtual Assembly will be happenin' soon...have you been practicing your TikTok moves?
Packets are available for pick-up Monday morning. I know the transition to remote learning has not always been smooth, and it can still be confusing. If you or your child are still struggling to navigate our SMS "Learn at Home" website or having difficulty with packets, please reach out to us. We want to help to ensure all students are still making academic growth at this challenging time for all of us.
Stay healthy and have a great week!

- Attendance at a virtual meeting (Zoom or Google Meets),
- The student logged into to Google Classroom to count for participation, or
