CKE Monday Notes
"If It's to Be, It's Up to Me"
Mindset Class With Students - AWESOME FIRST DAY!
What an amazing day with your students working on mindset during media time! You would be extremely proud of your kids and I feel like we had some great sessions together today. During the week take just a few minutes to ask your students about our class and what "Yet" means to them. We took time to think about open versus closed mindsets and reflect on past challenges that they have experienced in school. Hopefully through some of our activities, all of our students will have a better grasp of the importance of a growth mindset. Remember, we are meeting in room C-18 on the 1st grade hall!
February PLC Meetings
Our monthly PLC meetings will resume next Monday (2/13) with the Red Team and Yellow Team meeting after school. This month we will continue our look at Mindset. March will be our last month for PLC meetings for the school year. I sure hope that everyone has taken away some valuable lessons from our meetings.
STEAM Night - Tomorrow Night!
We are excited about having the Creative Discovery Museum back at Coker! This year we will host a STEAM Night and hope to see lots of Coker Cubs. The museum will probably want to meet with everyone working activities around 4:30 or so. Those working the first hour may want to grab a bite to eat prior to us beginning the event at 5:00.
Student Council Members Travel to GMS
On Friday morning our student council members will attend a One Tribe event at Gladden. This special event is being organized by GMS and will provide our students with time to share some of the great things that they are doing at Coker and get to know students from all other south end schools. Please excuse them for any classes that they miss.
Intervention Block(s)
Please be sure and maximize time working with your students during intervention. Whether it is with you or another faculty or staff member, we must work tirelessly to get students where they need to be. Teachers please be sure and communicate with any other faculty/staff members about what activities you would like for them to do with your students. In addition, regarding the RTI process, please be sure that you are collecting adequate work samples and documenting interventions. It is very difficult to argue on behalf of a student whom you have not collected the necessary information for and to get them the help they need and especially be tested at the end of the process.
