Make a Difference
We collected donations as a part of the school wide Empower class module Make a Difference. Students in grade kindergarten through fourth grade came up with the idea of donating to the Kane County Animal Control themselves and ran a school wide vote on the best service project! They created flyers, videos, reminders, and more to advertise for our fundraiser! Our students started Make a Difference, this year at BG, focusing on themselves and celebrating what makes them unique. Then we moved onto our classmates and friends and learned about the power of a compliment. Our students then set their sights on the community at Bell Graham celebrating their Super Teacher and Super Teachers around the building. We even had a week to spread our kindness to the bus drivers at BG. Our students are focusing on the Empower competencies for Cultural Competence, Reliability & Accountability and Decision Making. When we began our Make a Difference journey the students set their own success criteria for our learning intentions. They all center around considering the feelings and perspectives of others, learning to contribute to the team goal, and making informed decisions by thinking of the positive and negative consequences. They set the fundraiser to go from Wednesday January 25th- Wednesday February 8th! I'd say they were incredibly successful in their student planned and run fundraiser! We are thrilled to Make a Difference to so many animals that you help throughout Kane County! On top of all the goods that were donated we had enough money collected to donate 1 Kennel Bed - Walnut - 40 x 25 - Vinyl - Navy and 1 Bed Repair Kit - Standard - Walnut Bed.
