Fulton Science Academy
ACCREDITED AND STEM CERTIFIED COLLEGE PREP GIFTED SCHOOL
THE WEEK AHEAD | September 8 - September 11, 2020
Principal's Corner
Dear FSA Students and Parents,
I hope that everyone enjoyed their long weekend. It will be another great week at FSA as we welcome more of our amazing students to campus. Each day is starting to feel a little more "normal." Today, we are enjoying to welcome 4th and 5th grade students who opted in for on campus learning! We can't wait to see all grades in campus soon!!!
The timeline for the addition of remaining grades to the hybrid program remains as follows:
- Tuesday, September 8th (After Labor Day) - 4th & 5th grade students will join the hybrid learning program
- Monday, September 14 - 6th & 7th grade students will join the hybrid learning program
- The week of Monday, September 21 is Fall Break Holiday
- Monday, September 28 - All remaining grades will join the hybrid learning program
This gradual timeline will allow us to ensure that we are introducing each new grade level as safely as possible. Smaller groups joining at one time will allow us to train several grades at a time with operational COVID-19 procedures at the school before the next group of students arrive at the campus.
Quote of the Week
REMINDERS
1. As part of our COVID-19 precautions, we have instructed all of our faculty and admin members to schedule their meetings with our parents and any outside people through zoom. There will not be any in person meetings on campus during the first semester to minimize the risks. We will revisit this decision for the second semester.
2. When your student will be absent from school for the entire day, or if you have questions about your student's attendance, please send an e-mail to attendance@fultonscienceacademy.org
Please always keep in mind that when emailing Attendance, include the date in which you have questions about and include your student's name. (Please make sure you use their full name, no shortened versions or nick names)
Please refer to the student handbook for the full attendance policy.
3. We are asking that at this time, if you are needing to bring your student into the building for any reason, that only one parent accompany the child. This will help to reduce the amount of people in the front office and aid in the safety of your family and FSA staff.
4. ALL ATHLETES, please be reminded that when coming to campus for practice or games, DO NOT use the front door. Please always enter at the gym side door. If it is not open yet, please wait patiently. It will be opened by your coach for practice or games.
5. We are asking that parents please either send your student to school with lunch already in their possession or please order lunch through our lunch partner, ATL. Lunch Co.(You can see more info on ATL Lunch Co. below). Please know that Uber Eats, Door Dash or any other food delivery service will not be accepted.
Parents should also NOT bring items or food for their student into the building during the school day. Students should arrive at school with all items / food needed for the school day.
Thank you for your understanding and continued support on these important safety precautions.
6. Tips for Face Masks
Start practicing with your child at home by having them wear their mask. You can slowly add time each day to help them prepare to have it on all day when he/she returns to campus.
Make sure to choose a mask that is comfortable for your child. The mask should cover the mouth and nose with no gaps on the sides and without having to constantly adjust the mask.
Practice taking it off by pulling the earpieces and not the front of the mask. You should try to minimize touching the front of the mask.
Label the mask with the student’s name (Lands’ End masks have a tab inside for name).
Discuss with your child that they should not share or trade masks with other students.
Wash your cloth masks frequently.
Attaching a lanyard to the mask is a great idea to prevent losing it during the day or having it fall off in unmentionable places.
We know that many of our families are wondering about picture day and how that will work this school year. We will keep you all informed of plans and dates when we have them finalized. For the time being, please know that we are aware of the importance of school pictures and are working to make sure that they happen in the safest and most effective way possible.
8. AFTER SCHOOL CARE
We would like to openly tell you that when more students stay for after school care, it will be harder for us to protect the safety of after school care students during this pandemic. Therefore, we strongly ask you to pick up your elementary school students between 3:16 and 3:40 and middle and high school students before 4:10 pm.
- For elementary students, after school care begins at 3:40 pm and continues till 5:30.
- For middle and high students, after school care begins at 4:10 pm and continues till 5:30. Elementary students with siblings in middle and/or high school will be charged after 4:10.
For those students who regularly use after school care, we recommend the monthly payment plan to save money. After school care fee is $20 per day for the monthly payment plan. If not interested in a monthly registration, you will be charged $30 per day as you use after school care. After 5:30, the fee increases to $40, and $1 is added for each minute after 6:00. If a student is not taken by 7 pm, we will inform the local safety authorities for the safety of the student.
9. STUDENT HEALTH SERVICES
Please CLICK HERE to locate medication and medical health condition forms for those students that will be face-to-face in school. These forms, along with their medication if needed, can be dropped off in the nurse's office. Please put everything in a large Ziploc bag with your child’s name on the medication and on outside of the bag.
Stay safe. Stay healthy. Stay happy.
Sincerely,
Dr. Kenan Sener
Principal
