LnHS Update April 15th
Dear Lancaster High School Eagle Families
Spring is flying by! Our ASB has a fun rally planned for Friday. In addition, we have fun school spirit days planned (see flyer in the school program section below). School is what you make of it so we encourage our students to get involved, even if only participating in school spirit weeks! Get involved and try your best... it's all we ask! Speaking of doing your best...
We are in full swing with our state testing. The CAASPP (California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress) is taking place now. CAASPP testing holds significant importance for students at Lancaster High School as it serves as a crucial measure of academic proficiency and growth. The results help identify areas of strength and areas needing improvement, guiding instructional strategies and interventions to support student success. Additionally, CAASPP scores play a role in evaluating school performance and informing educational policies, ensuring accountability and driving continuous improvement efforts to enhance the overall quality of education provided to students. We only ask students to do their best and get the questions they know correct! In other words, just try and resist the urge to just get through it. Students, all we ask is that you TRY YOUR BEST.

Dress Code
Did you know, when Lancaster High School opened in 1995, students had to wear a school uniform? Luckily, we no longer have to wear a school uniform as we have a pretty reasonable dress code.
We need your help and support in regard to dress code. In short, the dress code is that students need to dress appropriately for a school setting.
Specifically, I want to bring up the three most common dress code violations: tube tops, tank tops with open armpits, and shirts with drug/alcohol references ("Cookies" is the most common violation). These are strictly not allowed per our district dress code. There is more to our dress code, but we are noticing these items are being worn more than usual. Students will need to be in dress code during all school activities.
A point of reflection when deciding if something is or is not against dress code is this, if your student is wearing something and is wondering if it is in or out of dress code, don't wear it. Please use common sense and be prepared (have another shirt in your bag for example) if you are unsure.
Trust me, NOBODY likes to stop students for dress code. Our goal is to be the preparatory institution that prepares your student for both college and career. A part of career preparation is wearing proper attire. Please help us by monitoring your own student's dress. Thank you for your support and understanding.

At-School Live Tutoring
VIRTUAL *LIVE* Tutoring (Virtual Tutoring with a Live Person)
Did you know that your student has LIVE 24 HOUR FREE tutoring available in your student's PowerSchool? Our district has partnered with Princeton Review to provide every student with this amazing service. Your student can be connected with a tutor in any subject any time of the day, for FREE. These are not videos, they are live, vetted, tutors. Think of Uber, but for tutoring! The tutors will even edit papers for your student with less than a 24 hour turn-a-round period.
The easiest way to access this free, live, virtual tutoring, is to have your student log into google with their school account, log into Power School, look on the left side of the screen and find the live tutor button, and follow the easy to follow directions from there. If you need assistance, CLICK HERE or the button below for a tutorial.
Free AVTA Bus Pass for ALL Students
AVUHSD works hard to remove barriers of many kinds for students, and today we’re excited to share that starting immediately, ALL students may obtain a FREE AVTA bus pass that is valid through June 2024.
We are pleased to announce that the Antelope Valley Transit Authority’s Go Pass Program is now available to all students served by the Antelope Valley Union High School District. This initiative grants free access to all Antelope Valley Transit Authority (AVTA), and Los Angeles County Metropolitan Authority (LACMTA) bus routes. Please note that all Go Pass holders are subject to the AVTA Customer Code of Conduct, and misuse will be subject to the decisions and actions of the AVTA.
This program requires approval from a parent or guardian. Please provide the
information requested in the permission slip and return it to our library. This will authorize the issuance of an AVTA Go Pass to your student. Authorization also indicates your acknowledgment of the service provided through this program and the possible outcomes due to any identified misuse.
- You may print out your permission slip from the attachments included or have your student pick one up from the library
- The permission slip must be signed by the parent and returned to the library to receive your Go Pass
- If your student is in the moderate/severe special education program, you may receive your permission slip from your student's teacher or you may pick up from the library. Your permission slip will have different options that you may choose from (such as your student's teacher holding onto the pass for your student)
