Pecan Grove Elementary
May 3rd - June 3rd
Principal - Dr. Trenae Hill
It's May and the End of the 2020-2021 School Year
Happy May! We made it! This month is so full of daily adventures and I have included it all in this smore, so please be sure to read everything so you won't miss out! We have some exciting things planned for our students and we want everyone to be involved! Let's go!
But first - a few important announcements:
1. Wellness Screener - Our protocol is still the same for the remainder of the school year. If your child is exhibiting symptoms of any sort, please ensure that the Wellness Screener is filled out properly. We are seeing many students in the clinic with symptoms, and a screener that was green to get them into school and/or students are out sick and the screener is not complete. Please help us have a safe end to the school year and follow all protocols appropriately.
2. Neighborhood Fences - Please speak with your children about putting their heads, hands, or any other body parts into fences. We want to ensure they are safe and we're respecting the properties of our amazing community.
Assistant Principal - Mrs. Shazia Qazi
End of the year - We made it together
We made it to MAY! We are almost to the finish line for this year, and I am so proud of all our students and staff for all of their resilience this year! I know we will finish the year strong! There are a lot of events for the end of the year coming up! Let's all work together and continue to wash our hands and practice social distancing and end the year strong!
BE THE VOICE
Be the voice your community needs by serving on a FBISD Community Advisory Team (CAT). The Fort Bend ISD (FBISD) Department of Collaborative Communities is creating CATs to provide guidance on the diverse needs of each feeder pattern across the District. The CATs will discuss and seek feedback on key topics that align with District goals and objectives. CATs will also serve in an advisory capacity to help identify gaps in resources needed to support student learning and development and inform the District’s strategic efforts to address student and community needs.
If you are interested in serving on a Community Advisory Team, please apply using the following link(s):

Summer Reading
We would like to introduce Sora, a new to FBISD E-book/audiobook online system to help our students reconnect with books no matter where they are. Sora has some of the newest and best books around. It can be accessed through your child’s 1Link/Class Link account. You can also download the app on a device and enjoy from there. All our Cubs were shown Sora this past week in Library but if you would like to watch tutorial, please see your child’s Library Schoology course.

FBISD Health and Safety Protocols
Re-entry into school following any of these symptoms: fever, runny nose/congestion, sore throat, cough, headache, vomiting, diarrhea, loss of taste or smell = 72 hours have passed AND parent presents either a doctor’s note stating alternative diagnosis (strep throat, Flu, allergies, etc) OR a Negative COVID-19 test result.
If the student is not cleared by the doctor with a note for return, or has not taken a COVID-19 test, the student must stay home until 10 days have passed since symptoms began.
Please ensure that if your child is not feeling well that you DO NOT send them to school. FBISD has very detailed protocols that we are adhering to. We want all of our students here and healthy but we need your support with this! Help us keep our students and staff well!
