Superintendent's Update
Greeting Cadet Families!
Spring is here, and so is the rain! The children’s rhyme says, “April showers bring May flowers.” Spring showers have appeared early in our area, so we should have bountiful flowers in May! If you have traveled a Texas highway recently, you have seen the smattering of Texas wildflowers on the roadsides. Spring is a beautiful time in Texas. Another sure sign that spring has arrived is Easter. All games and events usually scheduled for a Friday will be played early in observance of Good Friday.
However, the continued rain sometimes impacts our school events. Field trips, games, and meets are delayed, canceled, or rescheduled. We try our best to keep the Cadet community informed when this occurs via social media posts and text blasts when appropriate. We were just notified this morning that the district opener baseball game in China Spring had been altered. Only the varsity team will play in China Spring at 7:00 p.m. tonight. The varsity softball game is rescheduled for tomorrow at 6:30 p.m. in China Spring. There will be no JV baseball or softball games tonight or tomorrow against China Spring. The baseball and softball teams are scheduled to play China Spring again at home on Thursday, March 28th.
The junior high track meet at Lorena scheduled for this afternoon is still on schedule. If the continuation of rain in our area impacts their schedule, we will let all junior high parents know as soon as we receive information. The high school track team is scheduled to compete in Lorena on Wednesday of this week.
Last Thursday, our One Act Play cast and crew competed in the Bi-District OAP competition in Burnet, TX. The cast and crew of Epic Proportions put on a fantastic performance, but they did not advance to the Area OAP competition. There were a few individual awards at the competition:
Andre Boston: All-Star Cast
Evian Lucien-Coleman: Honorable Mention Cast
Israel Pena: All-Star Technical Crew
On Tuesday, March 26, 2024, Connally ISD will host a town hall meeting at 6:30 p.m. in the Connally Elementary School Cafeteria. Hear the information firsthand and get your questions answered. The town hall meeting will cover how schools are funded and financed by state and local funds. During the meeting, community members can tour aspects of the elementary campus and hear the facts about the bond. There will be a second town hall meeting next Tuesday, April 2, 2024, at 6:30 p.m. if you cannot attend the meeting tomorrow night. We also have a Connally ISD Bond 2024 website with information and a tax calculator to find the proposed tax impact on your homestead.
Tonight, March 25th, is our March Regular CISD School Board meeting. It will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the Board Room of the Connally Administration Building.
Enjoy your Easter weekend!
