Delran High School, an inclusive learning community, provides educational opportunities for intellectual development while valuing the importance of cultural diversity and tradition.
A Message from Mr. Finkle!
Happy New Year! I hope that everyone was able to relax and enjoy time with family and friends!
Due to the remote setting over the past 6 weeks, we have made changes to our marking period schedule. The second marking period will now end on Tuesday, January 26th and grades will be posted on the Parent Portal on Monday, February 1st. This allows students to transition back to the hybrid model before sitting for their final assessment of the grading period.
Just a reminder that we will return to in-person instruction on Tuesday, January 19, 2021. EVERY student will be present in each class regardless of whether your child is in the Delaware or Rancocas cohort. If your child is remote on that day, they will still be required to log-in to the Google Meet and take part in each class. In addition, when we reopen for in-person instruction, we will be on a single-session day of instruction. The remaining time will be reserved for office hours as we have been doing since moving to remote instruction in November. Click here for the DHS schedule with detailed information beginning on January 19th.
Please remember that the DHS virtual health office is still up and running. If your child tests positive for Covid-19 or needs to quarantine as per the Burlington County Health Department, please contact Faith Bowman (School Nurse) at 856-461-6100 x3011 or via email at fbowman@delranschools.org.
If you are having connectivity or Chromebook issues, please go to the Delran Township Help Desk and complete the login. You must have your child's email address(without the @delranschools.org) and his/her password. They will be more than happy to help you!
If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, please contact me at dfinkle@delranschools.org or (856) 461-6100 x3005.

Scholarship in the Spotlight
EMPOWERING youth. BUILDING leaders. CHANGING lives. Inspired by Alexander Hamilton’s legacy of leadership through service, Alexander Hamilton Scholars empowers high-achieving, underserved students to succeed in college and career. Their five-year program provides underserved students with a network of support and guidance as they transition from high school to college, and college to career. The 2021 Hamilton Award application is open to DHS Juniors until Wednesday, January 27th.
Naviance
All students 10th -12th have an account.
Naviance is a web-based tool that allows your student to explore their values, personality, strengths and correlate them to career clusters. It directs them to colleges with suggested majors so that they can build a list of colleges to explore.
Seniors and Juniors can see upcoming college visitations and request to attend directly in Naviance.
All students should be building their personal activity resume.
Ask your student to share with you what they are doing in Naviance.
College Planning
- Students at all grade levels are encouraged to begin exploring colleges
- Build your list of colleges of interest in Naviance.
- Consult the Guidance website’s subsection, “College and Career Virtual Tours and Information”. Check this page often as it is updated when new tour and virtual Open Houses are made available. Many events are exclusively for DHS students and may require registration for select events.
Scholarship Info
Throughout the school year scholarships are posted on the Guidance webpage, listed in Naviance, search engines are in Collegeboard.org, and Fast-web.com.

ATHLETIC NEWS
Mr. Guidotti's Update
Exciting news! Delran is busy working to offer Winter sports this school year! Please use the link below to begin registering your child for a Winter 2020-2021 sport. Registration closes on Friday, January 15th for Bowling and Basketball. All Winter athletes must have a valid physical in order to participate. Please turn in all new physicals to the DHS main office. Make sure that the physicals are filled in completely. Physicals for Wrestling do not need to be turned in until February. Click here to complete your Family ID requirement.
If your child has asthma or currently uses an inhaler, please have the doctor complete the Asthma Treatment Plan form linked here along with the physical.
If your child’s vision is less than 20/40 in either eye, please get an approval note from an eye doctor for participation. The note should be turned in with the completed physical to the DHS main office.
If your child does not have a valid physical or Athletic Family ID is not completed, they are unable to participate. Get all of the requirements done as soon as possible so there is no delay. Go Bears!!!
All athletes must have a valid ImPACT concussion baseline assessment score on file. Emails were sent out to parents of students who do not have a valid ImPACT score. If you are unsure, please contact Mr. Caplin at extension 3126.
In order to be academically eligible to participate in basketball or bowling, you must have earned 30 credits during the 2019-2020 school year and be in good academic standing during the 1st semester of 2020-2021. Swimmers and wrestlers must earn 15 credits during the 1st semester of the 2020-2021 school year to be academically eligible.
DHS ATTENDANCE POLICY:
Attendance is taken in every class period at DHS. Excessive unexcused absences and/or tardies in any single period will result in loss of credit and an appearance before the Student Attendance Review Committee. (SARC) In order for a student to be eligible to take part in a co-curricular activity, a student must be in attendance for (4) hours of the school day according to N.J.A.C. 6A:32-8.3 and B.O.E. Policy #2430. Any exception to this rule requires validation by the Principal. (See Policy #2430).
DHS ACADEMIC POLICY:
Student-athletes must always keep in mind that their first priority is their school work. Many studies show that athletes can maintain a high level of performance in the classroom and on the field if they make effective use of their unscheduled time. If students are having difficulty in a specific subject, they are encouraged to seek additional help during non-instructional time. Should a student need to meet with a teacher after school, this is considered an excused lateness to practice and will have no adverse effect on the student-athlete, provided the student can produce a note from the teacher. At Delran High School any student failing 2 or more subjects is ineligible until the following grade reporting.
Delran High School will be supporting a Unified Bowling team this Winter. The season begins on Wednesday, January 20th and ends on Wednesday, March 3rd. If you are interested in being a part of this program, please contact Mr. Joseph Lewis at jlewis@delranschools.org. View the links below to find out more about this wonderful program and the rules of Unified Bowling.
If you have any questions about athletics, please contact Maureen Flanagan at extension 3003 or Anthony Guidotti, Director of Athletics, at extension 3016.
