Our Actions Scream Our Beliefs
We are looking forward to continuing the conversation of our beliefs about children and ourselves as we embark upon a new journey with a new year.
As we are busily setting up our environments...we should pause and ask ourselves..."What do we value and does our space welcome that for the children we will serve?"

Telling Our Story Through Documentation
Take a look at Mrs. Erin Nornberg's permanent documentation board that hangs in the Preschool/Kinder hallway.
I encourage you to begin thinking about the worthy work you do with students. If you are interested in teaming up to put the pieces together, talk with Maria or Erin to help. Fatima is on the lookout for at least 2 more permanent display boards! Will it be from your students?
Until then, breathe and get to know your students because that's when the real magic will happen - when you learn individual interests. Let the boards build themselves.

BSE Nut/Tree Nut Allergy Friendly School Pilot
- BSE is continuing to pilot being nut/tree nut friendly.
- Parents have been encouraged to pack alternate foods that do not contain peanuts or tree nuts.
- The cafe will not serve peanuts or tree nuts.
- Students will not be punished if they bring in food containing nuts, so we cannot guarantee that children with allergies will not have accidental exposure.
This is a learning process for all of us, but we trust that you understand how important is to respect and adhere to these guidelines.

Equity
- What were your take aways from that event in May?
- What can you share with our new staff members?
- How did the information shared that day shift something you will do right from the beginning of this school year?
- How will you shift your communication with our community?
Please email Dr. Erica Buchanan-Rivera at Central Office to share feedback and ask further questions.

Extra Recess!
There is now opportunity for all children to have additional movement breaks. This will look different at different grade levels.

- It can be inside or outside (see Instructional Block schedule.)
- Times may be adjusted.
- Teachers can partner up as well as grade levels.
- Preschool may use Bus Lot playgrounds/K-4 regular recess playgrounds.
- Preschool may use Sensory Room/Movement Room (previous Speech waiting room.)
Evaluation - Revised "Teacher Develop System"
- Begin reflecting on how your year ended and how you want this year to start.
- What goals do you have?
- What questions do you have?
- What support do you need at the beginning?
