The Storm Forecast
October 13, 2020
Dear parents and guardians,
As we get into the 2nd quarter, it is a good time to remember that the 2nd quarter is often the shortest, due to many holiday breaks. It is imperative that students ensure that they are turning in their work every day- lack of work completion is the #1 way for grades to drop. Your teachers are always available to assist with questions and difficulties, but it is difficult to assess what students need help with if the work is not turned in so the teacher can see where the difficulties lie.
Another hot topic- the new building! Our construction company is now working 7 days a week in order to bring our building to completion so we can move in soon. We are SO excited about this new chapter and can't wait to share with you our new home.
As we prepare for the new building, please make sure that you prepare as well by ensuring that you have your school uniforms, that you are prepared for dress code compliance (check the hair color!), and that you have all you have your school supplies.
Many school clubs and activities are already starting up in preparation for the return to campus. If you still don't have a club or activity and want to join one, you can check out the list of activities on our website at https://www.sanjoseprep.org/clubs-and-activities/ and contact the club sponsor.
We can't wait to see you!
Mrs. Knapp
Principal
School hours: 8:00a.m.-2:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday

New app and communication system
In order for you to stay up to date with what is happening at San Jose Prep, please make sure to download the ParentSquare app on the app store. It is a free download for both Apple and Android.
Also, please make sure that all of your contact information with the school, specifically your phone numbers and emails, are correct. If in doubt, please contact Student Records at christopher.cassells@sanjoseprep.org
The ParentSquare app will allow you to see the school calendar in real time, continue to receive emails and phone calls, receive text message updates, and now, get notifications from teachers. It will also notify you if your student has been marked absent for any of their classes (feature to be activated soon).
Please register for ParentSquare today so you do not miss out!
Curbside meal pick up
Meal distributions are available from 11:30-12:00pm Monday and Wednesdays.
You do not have to sign up for pick up, just come to the front office and ask for your meals. When picking up meals, you will receive:

Is your contact information correct in our system?
If you are unsure if we have all of your current information, please email Mr. Cassells at christopher.cassells@sanjoseprep.org
We need to make sure we have your most current:
- phone numbers
- address
- Any secondary contacts and their information
Absence notes
Doctors/medical notes can be uploaded via that web page.
All other absences are unexcused absences.
Important reminders for parents
- When students are in class, they are required to have their cameras turned in so we can verify the student's attendance and participation in the course. If your student's computer does not have a camera, please email techsupport@sanjoseschools.org to arrange for a Chromebook to check out. Also remember that we take live attendance every class period, so if the student is not in the Google Classroom during class time, they will be marked absent.
- For students who are starting show potential truancy trends, attendance intervention meetings will begin in the next two weeks. Please make sure that your student is attending all of their classes every day.
- If you have a question about something in class, the best course of action is always to reach out to the teacher first. Most issues and questions can be resolved through communication with the classroom teacher. If you need to schedule a conference, please email studentservices@sanjoseprep.org and a member of our team will reach out to you to schedule a conference.
- Please make sure that your student is completing their work! Although we are on virtual instruction, we still have graded work and deadlines for assignments.
When students are back on campus, we have strict COVID guidelines in place:
- Face masks are required in order to be on campus
- All students on campus must have a COVID waiver on file
- There are daily temperature checks daily prior to entering the building and throughout the day
- Everyone is expected to maintain socially distant
