North Platte Public Schools Awards Staff Member of the Month for November
The North Platte Public Schools Foundation in conjunction with North Platte Public Schools is excited to announce that we are honoring Misty Brown as the NPPS Bulldog Staff member of the month for November. Misty works in the custodial department and has worked for North Platte Public Schools for just over a year. She works primarily at North Platte High School, but also subs in various buildings throughout the district.
Lori Coburn, Facilities Director for North Platte Public Schools nominated Misty for the award. “Misty has a positive personality and always has a smile,” said Coburn. She is a team player and always receives positive feedback when she substitutes throughout the district. Misty is making a difference by helping others, doing little extras and interacting positively with our students.” Misty told the foundation that the kids are the best part of her job. She loves seeing them laugh and learn. “They make me smile every day.” She said.
The November business sponsor was David Cain, American Family Insurance. Monthly Sponsors give honorees a gift basket. The Foundation provides balloons and a gift card to the NPHS Bulldog Store and Prairie Friends and Flowers delivers a bouquet.
The North Platte Public Schools Foundation facilitates the program and takes nominations from principals and administration. Staff members are awarded monthly throughout the school year and will be recognized at Education After Hours in the spring. Business sponsors are being sought for the 2019-2020 school year. For more information, contact the North Platte Public Schools Foundation at 696-3325.

Winter Job Expo
NPHS hosted it's Fall Into A Great Winter Job Expo on Tuesday, November 19th. Military recruiters and employers from the surrounding area set up booths at NPHS and welcomed over 900 students to their tables to share employment opportunities that are available. Students were able to engage in conversations with employers, learn about career opportunities, and understand what skill sets are needed to be a successful candidate for employment. We appreciate our NPPSD Business Partners for taking time to invest in the future of our students.

November Update
Sodexo and Kids Klub partnered to conduct a "Fine Dining" event for the November 11th Kids Klub Mega Day at Jefferson School. Kids Klub participants learned proper table manners. 150 students and staff enjoyed a served Thanksgiving meal including pumpkin pie. Kids Klub 5th graders set table place settings and served the meal to the younger students. The event was enjoyed by all.
Child Nutrition Department served the traditional Thanksgiving Lunch meal at all elementary and middle schools on Tuesday, November 19th and served the high school on Thursday, November 21st.
The high school cafeteria competed in the Sodexo Healthy High School Challenge against 224 other Sodexo operated high schools around the nation. The competition was based on ala carte smart snack sales and North Platte placed 67th and will be receiving $500.00 check from Sodexo. I will be awarding this $500.00 check to the High School Student Council to use towards any of their programs as they see fit. I'm planning to do the check presentation in December.
December we will kick off Sodexo's 10th anniversary of the Future Chefs Competition. This cooking competition is open to all 3rd - 5th graders at North Platte Schools to submit recipes. In January, 8 recipe finalists will be selected to compete in the Culinary Celebration on Tuesday, March 10th at Madison Middle School. --Diane Heine, Food Service Director
North Platte School District 3rd – 5th Grade Culinary Competition
Hello everyone,
We’re thrilled to bring back again this year, Sodexo Future Chef competition to your school! This year, we’re accepting recipe entries from students in grades 3rd through 5th.
The idea behind this event is to help educate the kids in HEALTHY EATING HABITS. Too often we hear about obesity in kids and kids not making the right choices in terms of their eating habits. This year’s theme is “Reimagine Your Favorite School Lunch Meal”.
As an added bonus, our competition is just one of many nationwide local competitions that Sodexo will be orchestrating across the country in February and March. The winning recipe from each event will be entered to win a national competition in March. More details will follow, but we’re lining up some great prizes for those that are chosen to receive national recognition!
Please let me know if I can answer any questions or concerns.

Busy Month for NP KidsKlub
In November, Kids Klub students and staff were treated to a Thanksgiving Feast during our Mega Day. Many thanks to the Sodexo staff who worked on their day off to make this possible. It was absolutely delicious!
Thanks to Sodexo, our staff had the rare opportunity to sit down to a family style dinner and share conversation and a meal with our students. Our 4th & 5th grade students were our servers and they did a wonderful job!
Our students made cards for members of our military who will not be home for the holidays, and Operation Christmas Card volunteers will see that they’re mailed out.
We chose the NP Animal Shelter as our Giving Back recipient and proceeds from our November Mega Day, as well as additional donations from some of our students’ families, will be used to purchase food, toys, treats, and supplies for the animals in their care.
Kids Klub staff are thankful for each and every one of our community partners, families and students, and we want to thank you for your continued support of our program. Carrie Lienemann, Director ️
