CULVER PARK HIGH SCHOOL
February 2019 Newsletter
Principal's Message
I look forward to working together to ensure that students meet their graduation requirements and are prepared for their next step beyond high school, whether that is going to college, going to a trade school, or going to work.
Academics
Students began Quarter 3 on January 23, which goes through April 11.
Parents should be receiving a letter in the mail that includes the following:
Grades for Quarters 1 & 2
Attendance report
Schedule - Quarter 3
Feel free to set up an appointment with Ms. Montes anytime, to discuss your child's progress towards transferring back to CCHS or towards graduation.
Arts
Red Hen Press is providing an arts integrated unit in Mr. Ketchem’s Language Arts class this quarter.
Culver Park students from Mr. Ketchem’s English 11 class and Ms. Matilda’s Art Appreciation class were treated to a special performance by Teaching Artists Christine Suarez and Shelby WIlliams-Gonzalez called “On Being American” in the new Robert Frost’s Black Box Theatre.
The Wallis Annenberg Theatre is hosting teacher professional development and arts integration with our English and Theatre teacher Marc Ketchem, including a field trip for Mr. Ketchem’s students around the upcoming play, “Witness Uganda,” which also coincides with Black History Month.
College
Culver Park students who have completed registration for Santa Monica City College in the fall will be able to participate in CCHS’ annual field trip to Santa Monica City College on 2/22
Culver Park High School now has its own representative from WLACC who visits our campus regularly. On 2/21 he will be conducting a FAFSA workshop for seniors prior to the March 2nd FAFSA deadline.
Community Scholarship applications were due on February 13th; Culver Park students received a presentation on how to apply in January, and at least six students submitted applications.
Congratulations to Haley Fugett who was accepted into Kansas University!!!
