A Message from Mrs. Caudill
I know we have had a lot of communication regarding drop-off in the morning. The reason for this is student safety. I appreciate all of our families adhering to the "loop" procedures. We have had a couple near accidents involving both cars and people.
Another important thing to note about morning drop-off in the loop is it closes at the first bell. The first bell rings at 8:41. Any cars that are in line at that time will be allowed to drop off. Cones will be put out blocking the loop when the first bell rings. If you arrive after the first bell, you will need to park and walk your child into the building. When you sign in your student, please notify you missed loop drop-off and they will not be marked tardy.
I know this may cause you an inconvenience to park and walk your child into the building, but our staff working the loop have other duties they must get to at the start of school. If you have a babysitter or family member drop-off in the morning, please make sure you are explaining to them where to enter the loop, exit the loop, what time the loop closes and where to park if needed.
With Gratitude,
Devon Caudill

Amerman Students and Families Work Together to Bring Hope to Others
Amerman Student Leaders have been brainstorming community service efforts for this year and wanted to do something for our Veterans. In honor of Verteran's Day, we held a donation drive. It just ended last week. We collect 435 items to donate to the VA, valued at over $5,000.00 It was a wonderful BOBCAT TEAM effort. Our student leaders made posters and announcements. They also tally and organized the donations weekly. We had a lot of help from our families and the PTA.
How Families Volunteered
Families, students, volunteers and teachers all worked together collaboratively to ensure Breakfast with a Buddy at Amerman Elementary School was a success. Everyone who volunteered played a role in the success of the event by:
Organizing the event;
Advertising on member hub, Facebook and the school portal
Picking up all the food prior
Helping to cook and serve food for over 200 people
Setting up and cleaning up everything needed for the event
During the breakfast the kids discussed with their "buddy" what they are thankful for and made the veterans cards thanking them for their service. In addition, the students made signs for the bins used to collect the food and hygiene supplies to donate to the VA and the parent volunteers dropped off the donated items. We collect 435 items to donate to the VA. This project allowed the kids to work together in the community and participate in an act of kindness. They came away with an understanding that kindness goes a long way and can make a significant difference in someone's life and they recognized that teamwork is key and by working together as a community you can carry out even greater things together than you can do on your own.
Stories
The VA shared that the patients were so happy to receive the kids notes on their patient trays. They said it lifted their spirits up and how nice it was to be remembered. The kids said they didn’t realize so many people in our community went without food every day and that it felt good to make a difference. We ended up donating 500 items that were valued at over $5000.00
Successes
The success of our project was based on several key factors:
People's drive to want to make a difference
Students were given the opportunity to take ownership and feel empowered to make a difference in people’s lives
Volunteer support
Personalized cards written to the vets noting what they are thankful for
Community support to help exceed our donation goal
Breakfast provided to 200 + people
Veterans felt appreciated during their stay at the hospital
