How to help your child for test preparation
Chimacum School District Awarded Funding To Expand Gardens
Thanks to the Community Wellness Project, Chimacum was recently awarded an amazing garden grant through the Healthy Kids, Healthy Schools grant from OSPI. This grant will enable our schools to build on our existing garden at the high school for the elementary and add a new garden at Chimacum Creek Primary! This grant will allow our schools to offer garden education to our students in grades K-12 and will be one of the largest school gardens on the peninsula.
The garden will serve as a key component in anchoring our STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, & Mathematics) curriculum and will bring relevancy and connection to learning that will propel our students forward! Garden education programs also get students excited about eating fresh vegetables and healthy food offered in the cafeteria. This is huge news for our students and district! Please follow the link below to more information about the Community Wellness Project.
2019-20 Configuration Update
- A more safe and secure building
- Science, technology, engineering, art & math (STEAM) at all grade levels
- Fire suppression, modern heating, and a more comfortable learning environment
- Updated & refurbished learning spaces
- Classroom spaces that allow for better collaboration among teaching staff
- New classroom technology such as short throw projectors and modern wiring to support technology

- More continuity in curriculum, behavior, and academic expectations
- Opportunities for greater student mentorships

A transition team of teachers, staff, and parents are meeting to plan and gather input for our transition to the new location for the 2019-2020 school year. Additionally, this team is drafting a mission and vision that reflects a STEAM focus. Please contact Principal Jason Lynch if you would like to serve on this team. Please also consider attending our coffee and conversation meetings at Chimacum Elementary where you can ask questions, give input, and take a tour of the new space. The next Coffee and Conversation will be held May 8th at 9:00AM.
For more information or to have any questions answered about the transition to the 2019-20 school year, please contact Jason Lynch at jason_lynch@csd49.org
