Have you heard of the Lago Vista ISD Education Foundation?
We have been around for many years and are a foundation that fundraises to give grants to educators in our district. Those grants fund equipment and supplies for students. Lago Vista ISD students are the direct beneficiaries of all of our efforts.
We are currently looking for community volunteers to help with our Giving Tuesday Campaign. You can learn more about how to help and who we are at our website, https://www.lvisdeftx.com , or by emailing lvisdeftx@gmail.com.
When LVISD students thrive, our community does too!
News from the LV Booster Club
More Middle School volunteers are needed! They are extremely short on volunteers that can work Middle School football games - please sign up today to help out. There's only one more game!
Did you know that the LV Viking Booster Club provides funds to every sport in the district? Throughout the year, football concessions represents our biggest fundraiser and the funds that are raised are used to provide athletic equipment for all sports. So we truly represent one club fundraising for all district sports. We are so happy to have the ability to support so many, but we need your help in order to continue funding these programs successfully. We need volunteers from every sport to sign up for concessions and other support functions by clicking on the links provided below. As a side note, we are now able to accept all credit cards and Apple Pay in concessions with our newly installed and easy to use point of sale system. We are excited and focused on creating a culture of volunteerism district wide and we can only be successful together!”

Free and Reduced- Price Meal News
As a reminder, LVISD transitioned back to Free and Reduced-Price Meals for the 22-23 school year. The federal government is no longer funding the free lunch program, which was part of the COVID-19 pandemic aid package. All families are encouraged to fill out the Free and Reduced-Price Meals applications. If your child previously received free or reduced-priced meals, a new application must be received to determine if your child still qualifies. Previous free and reduced-meal eligibility has now expired. You can fill out the Free & Reduced Meal application online at MySchoolApps by clicking on the following links:
For questions regarding applications, please contact Michelle Jackson, and for questions regarding student purchases, please contact Jennifer Porter.
Lost - Need to Get Back to Their Owners!

Emergency Contact Info
Parents - please check the emergency contacts you listed in the Parent Portal for your students. Please add all contacts: Dads, Moms, siblings, relatives, or friends that you would like to be able to pick up your child for an appointment or emergency.
If a person is not listed, we are unable to let them take a student from our campus.
If you have any questions or need help with that, please let me know.
Game Day Info!
Also, please talk to your students about what they are allowed (and not allowed) to do while staying late for a game. We will supervise students at the game, but many times students will leave campus to run over to Sonic. Crossing 1431 is extremely dangerous, but it's not a decision that we can control.
So if you're student stays late to watch a game, have those conversations beforehand!
Also, pep rallies are back! Parents are allowed to come to the pep rallies, but please allow yourself extra time to check in through the front office.
If you have any questions, please let me know.
More Incredible Viking Volleyball
7A vs. MARBLE FALLS 10/17
This team continues to rock it with a win against Marble Falls Monday evening! Your 7A Lady Vikings have moved to 7-0 for the season! They continue to improve on positions and rotations and performed very well considering the lack of practice they've had this past week due to the gym floor renovation. First set was 25-16 and the second set was 25-13. Great serve streaks from Elah Francisco and Kyrksen Cook! Leading in assists was Ada Weyant and leading in digs was Jolie Mosser and Ellie St. Martin. Great turn around on penalties compared to the previous game in Burnet, I'm not sure we had any net calls this game which is awesome! Energy is high and passing, transitioning, and just simple court awareness has vastly improved! Contributing to the team are Myah Marquez, Ellie St. Martin, Emerson Burke, Eloise Thering, Ava Bailey, Brooklyn Marquez! Next, and last home game of the season is October 24th vs. the Taylor Ducks!
8A vs. MARBLE FALLS 10/17
The Lady Vikings traveled to Marble Falls this past Monday evening to take on the Lady Mustangs in a rematch from earlier in the season. The Lady Vikings won the first go around back in September fairly comfortably. This time though proved to be much more challenging. The first set saw the Lady Vikings get off to a very fast start stretching their lead up to 7 pts behind great serving, and aggressive play. Unable to keep the momentum the Lady Mustangs fought their way back into the set eventually taking the lead late. They did so by creating all sorts of problems for the Lady Vikings with their block at the net. The Lady Vikings found themselves down 21 - 18 but were able to force a sideout of the serve. Trailing 19-21 Ayva Ritter stepped up to the service line and delivered one big serve after another spurring the Lady Vikings to 6 consecutive points, winning the first set 25-21.
The second set was just as competitive as the Lady Vikings fought to keep up with a Marble Falls squad that was playing some of their best volleyball of the season. Behind some big swings and great play from their middles, Marble Falls reached set point at 24-18 and a chance to even the match. It was now or never time for the Lady Vikings and once again they were equal to the challenge. This time it was Eliana Helton's turn as she hit one clutch serve after another as the Lady Vikings put together another 6 point stretch setting up match point at 25 - 24. In Volleyball you’ve gotta win by two, and a tough Marble Falls squad was able to break service denying the girls a chance at match point. After a couple of missed serves by both teams Marble Falls found themselves with another set point of their own at 27-26. The Lady Vikings were not to be denied again, as they forced another sideout of service and Olivia Parra stepped up and hit two great serves allowing the girls to win an incredibly competitive match 29-27. The girls will play their final home game of the season on Monday night as they host the Taylor Ducks. Come on out and support the girls as they play their final match before the district tournament.
7B vs Marble Falls
Tonight was our first loss, it was a tough battle but we just couldn’t pull it off. Marble Falls ladies fought hard and took us to three sets which they came up victorious. The Lady Vikings had a huge learning experience this week which I think we’re all grateful for. Even though we lost we continue to work hard and push through to get better at the sport. We have Taylor on Monday and expect our girls to come out with fire!
8B vs Marble Falls
The Lady Vikings roll out with another strong win against Marble Falls. We worked hard to get this win and almost ended up going in three sets. The girls were determined to not let that happen and fought their way back to victory. All of the ladies worked really hard to come up with this win and contributed to success on the court.
Football Sweeps Hays Chapa
The Vikings started out the night with the Super team scoring often in the 1st half with 2 touchdowns. The defense held the Chapa Middle School Cougars out of the end zone until the second half. Keeping the Cougars out of the endzone for the two-point conversion, the final score of the game was 20-6, in favor of Lago Vista. The LVMS Super team goes into Wimberley with a season record of 1-3, and a district record of 0-1.
The Vikings' 7th grade defense stayed strong for the entire game, preventing the Cougars from scoring all night and securing a shutout against the Cougars. The offense came out strong against the Cougars, scoring 2 touchdowns in the first half, but stalled in the second half: However, it was enough to secure the victory at the buzzer. The final score of the game was 12-0 with the Vikings on top. The 7th grade team continues district play next week against Wimberley with a season record of 2-3 and a district record of 1-0.
The Vikings' 8th grade squad went into their game with the confidence of the two previous victories of the night and kept the streak going. Scoring once in the first quarter and again in the second, the Vikings went into the half 16-6, after a fumble recovery and return off of a Cougar two-point conversion try. The Vikings kept their foot on the gas, reaching the end zone twice in the third quarter and again in the fourth. The Cougars managed to slip in a score in the fourth quarter, but it was not enough to catch the Vikings' offense. The final score of the game was 36-12, Vikings. The 8th grade team continues district play against the Texans, next week, with a 3-2 season record and a district record of 1-0.

Meet Your Teachers!
Ms. Karie Rowland
1) Where are you from originally?
My parents moved us around a lot, but I spent most of my childhood southwest of Houston in Columbus, then graduated high school from El Campo.
2) What led you to become a teacher and how long have you been teaching?
I graduated college in 2000 and have served in many different roles in education since then. Deciding my major in college was a very easy decision for me - a school feels like a second home because I was raised by educators and was the kid who was always with my parents at school while they were working or was with them at school events. I still love being at school. No day feels like work because I enjoy it so much!
3) Tell us about your family...
I have a 16 year old son who goes to LVHS and a 12 year old daughter who attends LVMS. We have one super spastic, but sweet dog named Max, and two aloof cats named Hopper and Padme.
4) What are your favorite hobbies?
What are hobbies??!! I'm busy working and raising two kids. :) When I'm not acting as an Uber driver for my younger child I enjoy working in my yard, doing home improvement projects with my kids, and sitting outside in the evenings with my family while we listen to music and catch up on each others' days.
5) What is your favorite part about your job?
The best part about my job is developing relationships with the students and families who I serve. Because I get to work with my students all three years of middle school, I am able to be part of their lives and their families' lives during some of their most formative years. Another amazing part of my job is that I truly enjoy my colleagues. The friendships we share make each day fun!!
