History on the American windmill
The American windmill bears little resemblance to its European counterpart. The American design could lift water from hundreds of feet below the surface. It was invented in Connecticut in 1854 by Daniel Halladay. Its wheel, made from wooden blades could be transported in sections
How people use windmills today
People today use windmills mainly to generate electricity. Today people don't use windmills to pump water or grind flour they use electric motors to do the job.
