POSITIVITY PROJECT AND SPIRIT WEEK
It's Spirit Week time! This time we will be celebrating P2 (Positivity Project)! We have learned so much about each other and ourselves while learning about interesting traits like love, appreciation of beauty and excellence and even grit (prudence)! This coming week, March 4-8, we will be having special days and even a couple of gift card giveaways for those that participate! Dress to impress for the prizes!!!
Tuesday: Wear Green/White OR Positivity Project gear
Wednesday: Wear It Wednesday~ Rhyme Without a Reason (find a friend...come up with two words that rhyme...dress like those words! Ex: bear and chair or shoe and two)
Thursday: Love of Learning~ dress like your favorite past time (Ex: if you love to play soccer, you dress like a soccer player!)
Friday: Character Strength Costume Contest~Dress like your favorite trait!
During this special week, WEB leaders will be taking donations of any amount to help support our End of Year P2 Culminating Service Learning Project that will come back to positively impact students here at Oakview.
BEARy Proud of You - Candy Grams for Purchase!
Surprise your child with a note of encouragement or praise! The candy gram will include a note from you along with a small pack of gummy bears. All candy grams will be delivered to your child’s 1st hour the week after parent/teacher conferences. All orders must be in by Thursday, March 7th.
The cost is $1 and the proceeds will go toward sponsoring field trips for the Oakview Special Education department.
NOCC PRESENTATIONS ABOUT VAPING
Understanding the impact that vaping has on today’s students, Lake Orion Community Schools and the North Oakland Community Coalition (NOCC) have partnered to provide middle level students informational presentations designed to prevent vaping. In the coming weeks, NOCC will provide presentations to sixth, seventh, and eighth grade students in their social studies classes that reviews the basics of what vaping is, the dangers associated with vape use, and the consequences of vaping as it relates to school discipline and the law. Students at all three LOCS middle schools will receive this information during the month of March.
NEW GAP CLUBS
GUITAR CLUB, SESSION 2
Another session of Oakview’s Guitar Club is starting soon. All students are welcome! All skill levels are welcome and no experience is necessary. Bring your own instrument or borrow one.
There is a GAP participation fee of $30.00 (10 weeks)
*Minimum number of students needed to run the club

Summer School
Lake Orion Schools are offering a middle level summer program focusing on literacy and math skills. This is a zero cost, 4-week intervention program designed to reinforce skills that 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students did not master in their current grade level. Semester grades from ELA and either Math 6, Math 7, or Math 8 will be reviewed by Oakview staff. Students who earned a 2 or lower in these specific classes will be required to attend summer school in order to have success in the upcoming school year. Students that earned a 2 or lower for Semester 1 grades but are able to demonstrate significant progress for Semester 2 may no longer be required to attend the summer session. The dates for summer school are Monday through Thursday, July 8 - August 1, from 8:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m.
