Cap and Gown Information
LATEST INFO:
- Seniors: Unfortunately there has been a delay with the stoles, so they will not be distributed this week-May 1-5. We will reschedule a pick-up date as soon as possible.
PREVIOUS INFO:
- THE LAST DAY to pick up graduation supplies is APRIL 26. REPEAT- THE LAST DAY is APRIL 26!!
- Sparkman stoles have been ordered and will be available for pick up on this day!
- Your cap/gown fee must be paid prior to receiving your cap, gown, stole, and tassel.
- Note: Graduation caps, gowns, tassels, and stole belong to you. You will keep them after the ceremony.
Honor Cords
UPDATED May 8, 2017
- Attention all students who completed three business courses, you are eligible for a black and gold cord for graduation. Please see Ms. Massa or Mrs. Wilkerson if you wish to purchase a cord. The cords are $10. Deadline to order is Friday, May 12.
- Honor cords will be available for $10 following the graduation practice on May 22. These are available to students who have a cumulative average for their high school career of 90.0. Please note that an 89.999 will not qualify. See Ms. Findlay at graduation practice to confirm your qualifications.
Final Transcripts
- UPDATE: Students can request one free transcript at the time of practice. All other transcripts are $3.
- Final transcripts will be requested on Monday, May 22nd after graduation practice by completing and returning a FINAL Transcript Request Form. This form will be provided for you that day.
- Any transcript request after the May 22nd date must be completed in MySchoolFees with a $3 fee applied.
REMINDER
As a reminder, if the administration deems that a behavior violation has
taken place at graduation, a student will have to complete 40 supervised
work hours before receiving their diploma.

Ticket Information
** Students ONLY will pick up tickets on May 22 after graduation practice at SHS.
- Each student will receive 9 tickets to the graduation ceremony. Every guest requiring a seat must have a ticket for admission into the VBC Arena. Babies who are held on the lap will not need a ticket, but any child that will need a seat of their own must have a ticket.
- Students who need additional tickets should ask fellow students for any extra tickets they may have. If you don't plan to use all of your tickets, please offer them to fellow students who need them or turn them in to Ms. Findlay in the Guidance Office.
Tossing Caps
- Tossing your cap after you’ve been pronounced graduates will be permitted, as long as this privilege is not revoked by Mr. Shaw.
VBC Parking Information

- The Von Braun Civic Center (VBC) doors open at 2:00 pm on May 23. Parents and guests can enter at that time. Graduates must be in line no later than 2:00 PM.
- This information is subject to change: If you park for early rehearsal on VBC parking lots you may not be charged. If you park on the City lot you will have to pay $5.00, but if you save that ticket you will not have to pay again that day if you park in the same lot.
Ladies
- Black dress or black slacks and black shoes(ABSOLUTELY NO FLIP FLOPS!). Hosiery is not required.
- Keep jewelry to a minimum: only small earrings and a watch.
Gentlemen
- Black pants, black socks and shoes(ABSOLUTELY NO FLIP FLOPS!), white shirt, dark tie.
- Be sure all outstanding debts have been taken care of before attempting to pick up your diploma. Outstanding debts include library fees, lost books (textbooks or library books), uniforms, drivers’ education fees, etc. A hold will be placed on your diploma until these debts have been resolved.
- Diploma pickup will be will be at the VBC immediately following the commencement ceremony. You will pick up your diploma from your homeroom teacher.
