Fulton County Schools COVID-19 Information Site
The FCS COVID-19 site provides updates regarding resources, cases, positive trend rates, and pediatric reports. For the latest information on COVID-19 in Fulton County, please click here to access the site.
Fulton County Board of Health COVID-19 Reporting Site
The Fulton County Board of Health and Fulton County Schools have developed an on-line portal for FCS parents/guardians to report student COVID-19 related cases. The portal has been updated to include Spanish, Korean, and Chinese language options. FCS parent/guardians will find a dropdown at the top right for translations. Please make a report to the FCBOH when your student is COVID-19 positive, has a pending COVID-19 test result, or has been in direct contact with a COVID-19 positive person. Also, please use this resource for official reporting rather than alerting the school and/or teacher. If you must engage the school/teacher, please do so after you have made an official report to the FCBOH. Lastly, to ensure the protection of our school community, please do not allow your child to attend school or school-sponsored events when he/she is ill and/or has any of the above COVID-19 concerns. Please click here for more details and consider posting this document in a visible location, i.e. the refrigerator, for easy access. www.fultonschools.org/ReportCOVID

The textbook options have been narrowed to two resources: Benchmark Workshop and Wonders. There will be an extended public review of the materials at each school. Parents and teachers are invited to review the two resources and complete the electronic survey located on the district website. Materials for the two textbook series will be set up in the front entryway of Abbotts Hill Elementary for public review beginning March 1st – March 19th. The selection of the textbook resource will be recommended to the FCS school board in April, with a final decision made in May.

News From The Clinic - Headaches
Headaches and migraines in children are very common. According to the American Headache Society, a headache is defined as a “throbbing pain on one or both sides of the head.” A migraine is a more severe type of headache that can last from a few minutes to a few days.
We want your child to get the care they need. Most headaches are treated or prevented with some simple changes in your child’s daily activities. Below are some recommended lifestyle adjustments:
- Adequate sleep
- Adequate water intake: The goal is to consume the equivalent of ounces to weight in pounds; maximum of 100 ounces per day
- Exercise a minimum of 30 minutes, 3-5 times per week
- Stress and anxiety modification
- Consider the use of techniques to reduce stress and anxiety (i.e.: meditation, deep breathing, etc.)
- Consider consulting psychology or psychiatry
- Diet:
- Do not skip breakfast
- Eat three balanced, healthy meals daily
- Minimize or eliminate caffeine consumption
Intent Forms are due by March 5th

Carpool Safety
We are experiencing an increase in our car riders. We ask parents to be patient, safe, and understanding, and allow enough time to get your student to school on time. The tardy bell rings at 7:40. Please allow enough time to make sure your student is able to get to their classroom and in their seat by 7:40.
To increase safety and efficiency please:
- Begin practicing with your child on how to unbuckle and buckle their seatbelt, and how to independently get in and out of the car.
- Remain in the carpool lane rather than parking in the lot and walking your child into the building. Utilizing the carpool line is faster and safer than parking and walking students to the front door. Staff is available at the carpool line to assist your child. Staff will check in/out and monitor car riders exiting and entering vehicles; however, they will only assist with car doors if a student has a specific need for help. Should your child need assistance, please do not get out of your vehicle. Simply roll down your window, and a staff member will be over to assist you.
- Students should exit the car from the sidewalk side, not the driving lane side.
- When in the carpool lane, please remain in your vehicle and do not pass other cars.

Family Date Night!
In lieu of the Daddy/Daughter dance and the Mother/Son night this year, PTA would like to
encourage our AHES families to hold their own family date nights. Get creative! Make your own pizzas, hold a “Minute to Win It” competition, enjoy a movie together, have a baking/decorating contest, play your favorite games, try a new recipe, etc. We would love to document your special dates in the yearbook, so please feel free to send photos to AHEyearbook@gmail.com. Let’s keep this favorite AHES tradition going! Have fun!
Save the Date! Staff Appreciation Week is March 29 - April 2. More information will be coming soon. Be on the lookout for donation opportunities.
