February Flew
I apologize for my hiatus from newsletters in February. After the busy weeks of Catholic Schools Week and Las Vegas Night, I traveled to Louisiana to visit with our diocesan seminarians at Saint Joseph Abbey and Seminary in Covington. It was a wonderful opportunity to learn more about seminary life and to establish a relationship with the young men from our diocese and Saint Rita School. Last week, I joined with the other principals in the Diocese of Fort Worth for the annual principals' retreat at Montserrat Jesuit Retreat Center. At both visits, I had time to pray for our students, teachers, and Saint Rita families.
Here are some reminders for the coming weeks:
- Friday, March 9 is a noon dismissal. Extended Care is available.
- Spring Break will begin next Monday, March 12 and end on Friday, March 16. The school will be closed.
- Enrollment is open to new students, if you have not reenrolled, please do so to reserve your child's space.
- The last day to get assistance with your financial aid application is Wednesday, March 28. If you have not made an appointment with Mrs. Hernandez, please call the school office at 817-451-9383.
- Third quarter report cards will go home on Wednesday, March 21. Please review your child's grades on Renweb this week and contact the teacher if you have questions.
Lenten blessings,
Mrs. Burns

Saint Rita Student Successes!
Art Finalist - Alexis Condor
Eighth grader, Alexis Condor, is one of twelve diocesan finalists in the Mission Childhood Association Annual Christmas Art Contest. Her artwork was selected from over 150 entries and will be sent on to national level where only 24 winners throughout all the states will be selected.
American Way Award Recipients
Each year, the Knights of Columbus honors one eighth grade girl and one eighth grade boy from each Catholic school for their service to God and Country. The Saint Rita staff nominates students who serve faithfully at our weekly and weekend Masses. This year's recipient are Marlenne Esparza and Victor Ochoa. We congratulate these students and thank them for their service.

Basketball Standings
The 8th grade girls basketball team, coached by Mr. Masters, Mrs. Reed, and Coach Chelle Gunter, completed the season with a 9-1 record.
The boys 6th grade team, coached by Mr. Rodriguez, ended the season with a 5-5 record.
Both teams will participate in post-season tournaments this week. Go Wildcats!
Engineers in the Classroom
Wednesday, Saint Rita parents, Floyd Fazi and Jerome Socha, visited every class to make engineering presentations to students. Students learned about opportunities in many areas of engineering. Below, students learned programming with Mr. Fazi and the science behind static electricity with Mr. Socha.
Second Graders Predict the Weather!
I had the recent pleasure to observe Mrs. Cruse's second graders present their very detailed meteorological prognostications. Each student presented their predictions for the local, national, and continental weather. There were cumulus clouds, tornadoes, drought, and snow! These kids really know their weather vocabulary. Who knows? We may see one or more of them on the news some day.
Early Childhood Collects for the Needy
The pre-k and kindergarten students led a sock and underwear drive to benefit the patrons of East Side Ministries. If you haven't had a chance to send in your donation, we are still accepting new socks and underwear for all ages this week. Thank you for your support.
A Big Thank you!
Thank you to the second and eighth grade parents and students who helped organize the teacher supply closet on February 10. The space hasn't been this clean in years!
