NEU Field Club Newsletter
November 2021
A message from Mrs. Griger
Hello, NEU Field Club Families!
Hello, NEU families. It was great seeing so many families at Parent/Teacher Conferences last week. These are important conversations and necessary to the academic growth of our students. As a school, we had over 90% participation rate!
Now that we are entering the cold months of the year, please have your student(s) bring the necessary outwear to school daily. We all know how much the temperature in Nebraska can fluctuate throughout the day and want all students prepared for outdoor recess in the morning, midday, or afternoon. Students will be going outside for recess unless it is below 20 degrees. If your child needs a coat, hat, or gloves be call the school and ask to speak with Cari Kenney.
Please be reminded that our doors do not open in the morning until 8:30. The majority of our staff is not on duty until that time and we are not able to provide supervision until that time. With the weather turning colder, we do not want students standing outside longer than necessary and also be unsupervised. We appreciate your support with this.
Also, if your student plans on eating at school, please try to have your students at school between 8:30-8:40 so they can make it through the breakfast line and get to their room by 8:50. When it comes to attendance, every minute counts.
Please reach out if you have any questions or if we can help in any way. Enjoy your three day weekend.
With NEU Pride,
Mrs. Griger

Attendance - Every Minute Counts!
The Omaha Public Schools strongly believes that daily attendance is critical to academic achievement as well as social and emotional well-being. We expect every student to attend school and classes on time and every day.
Parents/Guardians are encouraged to call their child's school (School Secretary and/or Attendance Secretary) as soon as they are aware their child will be absent.
See OPS Attendance Policy 5008: Click here
If your child has an appointment, please be sure to get a note from the Dr. and bring it to the school secretary's so it can be documented. Also, if the appointment is in the morning, please bring your student back for the remainder of the day...every minute counts! See the chart below.
If you need assistance with attendance issues, please contact your child's building administrator, School Support Liaison, School Counselor or School Social Worker.
In accordance to the Nebraska State Statute 79-209, click here, the Omaha Public Schools District has in place an attendance policy that supports the encouragement of daily attendance while providing supports and resources to students and families.

Important NEU Field Club Notes & News
Health and safety is our priority. To protect students, staff and families, our district updated face covering requirements for the start of the 2021-22 school year. Students, staff and visitors must wear a face covering while inside our school. We care about our students, and we can work together to limit the spread of COVID-19. Our school will have face coverings available for those who need them.
Building Security
For the safety and security of our students and this building, we are asking that any parent visitor make an appointment prior to entering the building. We will continue to limit outside visitors due to Health & Safety Protocols.
School Messenger
We will be using the School Messenger (email or Robo call) to communicate this year. Please make sure to contact the office if you need to update your contact information.
Infinite Campus Parent Portal Accounts
Did you know the fastest way to keep your child's information current and to check on current grades (for grades 3-5) is to have a Campus Parent Portal account? Call the office to get your code and set this up today!
