PTA School of Excellence Survey Follow Up
Earlier this year, we shared the full results of feedback provided by 83 parents/guardians who completed the PTA School of Excellence survey.
92.8% of parents/guardians who completed the survey indicated that PUE Frequently or Always provides clear, two way communication about student progress or needs.
This week, we will highlight information related to communication regarding student progress.
Pleasant Union Elementary Grading Plan
Our school has a grading plan that specifies expectations teachers should follow regarding classwork, assessments, and homework. You can find the grading plan linked here.
Report Cards
Report cards for students on Track 1, 2, & 3 will go home today. While conferences are only required for all families after the first nine weeks of school, families may request a conference at any time. Teachers will conference will families of students who are experiencing academic or behavioral difficulties more frequently.
WCPSS Board of Education Policy Regarding Evaluation of Student Progress
The WCPSS Board of Education requires the following:
1. Teachers will provide students and their parents/guardians with clear explanations of their grading practices.
2. Teachers will provide each student with regular feedback to promote learning, self- evaluation, and growth.
3. Communication between teachers, parents, and students will be timely, including ongoing system-wide mechanisms for communication of student progress and grades.
Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS)
All WCPSS schools use a process called Multi-Tiered Systems of Support, or MTSS to identify student strengths, needs, and develop a plan to meet student needs. You may also want to check out the video from the NC Department of Public Instruction summarizing MTSS.
More information on MTSS can be found here:
