AUGUST 2022
This Month is:
National Back to School Month
National Get Ready for Kindergarten Month
Dear Summit Families,
On behalf of our entire staff, I would like to welcome all of our new and returning students to Summit Road STEM Elementary School. We are so excited for the upcoming 2022-23 school year and have great things planned throughout the year.
We look forward to meeting new faces, visiting with familiar ones, as well as hearing all about everyone’s summer adventures! This year we would like to welcome a few new staff members, one of which is our new Assistant Principal, Kaylee Robertson. For those of you who have not met us yet, here is a little background:
Latasha Turner, Principal: I have been a teacher and school administrator in Ohio for the past twenty-two years. This will be my fourth year as the principal of Summit Road STEM Elementary. It continues to be an honor to lead such a wonderful school. I am excited to work with you and our wonderful staff to make this another fabulous school year.
Kaylee Robertson, Assistant Principal: I am thrilled to be the shared Assistant Principal at Summit Road STEM Elementary and Taylor Road Elementary. I have been in the education field for eleven years, the most recent being Columbus City Schools. Working with children, parents and educators is my greatest passion! I am also a proud mom of a funny and smart boy, who will be starting Kindergarten this year. Other passions include reading, television and the outdoors. I cannot wait to meet everyone and participate in the Summit Elementary experience!
We are both excited to be part of this school community. We are looking forward to a new school year and working together to see that your child’s learning experience at Summit is a successful one. In addition to this newsletter, please make sure that you review our 2022-23 Student/Parent Handbook.
I apologize in advance for such a lengthy newsletter, but there is a lot of important information to share. We also appreciate your patience and understanding as we search for a new secretary.
Please scroll down for more information and updates!

DAILY SCHEDULE
Summit Road STEM Elementary School Day
Grades 1-4 8:05am to 2:30p
AM Kindergarten 8:05am-10:50am
PM Kindergarten 11:45am-2:30pm
Car Riders and Day Care (AM Kindergarten, Grades 1-4) should NOT arrive before 7:50 AM as there is no supervision before then. School begins promptly at 8:05 AM.
Students (AM Kindergarten and Grades 1-4) being dropped off by parents should be dropped off in the drop off/pick up loop in front of the main entrance at Door 1. Please stay in your vehicle as your child will be directed into the building.
Car Riders and Day Care (PM Kindergarten and Grades 1-4) will be dismissed by 2:25 PM . Any parents picking up should be at school and waiting in the pick up line no later than 2:45pm.
In the afternoon, please stay in your vehicle as your child will be directed to your car. Please have car tags displayed in the passenger window to expedite dismissal. You will receive a car tag on the first day of attendance with your child's first name and last initial. For your child's safety, don't forget to remove the car tag after you have picked up your child.
- Please go to the back of the pick up line (it will wrap around the back of the parking lot)
- Please make sure that your car tag is displayed on the passenger side of your car. An adult on duty will need to see it in order to verify who you are picking up.
- Pull up to an open space in the car loop next to one of the numbered pillars (1-4).
- The supervising adults will call your child from the line, and they will load up on the PASSENGER side. After students load- staff will help if needed- off you go!
- For safety reasons, please stay in your car. We have to ensure each child goes with the correct adult.
Our pick up line runs smoothly and completes in about 15 minutes provided you follow the above procedure.
Car Riders and Day Care for AM/PM Kindergarten:
AM Kindergarteners will be dropped off at the front entrance Car Loop by Door 1, but picked up in the Bus Loop by door 10.
PM Kindergarteners will be dropped off in the Bus Loop near Door 10 , but picked up in the front Car Loop near Door 1.
Please make every effort to confirm plans for after school before your children leave in the morning. If plans should change during the day, please call us by 2pm and we will notify your child of new plans at the end of the day. Teachers do not always have time to check email during the day; therefore, calling the office is the safest way to notify us of a change.
Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
