Home of the Wolverines
Welcome Back!
Our mission is to prepare our youth today for tomorrow’s opportunities.
Land Acknowledgement
The Mukilteo School District acknowledges that we gather on the ancestral homelands of the Coast Salish Peoples, who have lived in the Salish Sea basin since time immemorial. We respect this place and honor the sacred spiritual connection to the land, water, and its people, past, present, and future. The district serves a diverse population of about 15,000 students who live near the Puget Sound about 15 miles north of Seattle. Dedicated staff help prepare our community's children to be successful, contributing members of the community. Our students learn in an environment that is positive, caring, and focused on their highest academic potential.
The Voyager MS Parent Bulletin is available in multiple languages
Thought of the Week
“Although no one can go back and make a brand new start, anyone can start from now and make a brand new ending.”
~ Carl Bard
Health and Safety Information for In-Person Learning
The in-person learning family guide has been posted on the Return to School website. As with last spring, school staff will follow the health and safety guidelines provided by the Washington State Department of Health. You’ll also find information about cleaning, transportation, physical distancing, masks and other in-person learning protocols.
Attendance Reminders to All Families
We want to remind students and families about the importance of daily attendance. In order for students to do their best learning in school, students need to be present at school, on time, as many days as possible. Additionally, please be mindful about scheduling appointments outside of the school day whenever possible, or to bring students back to campus so that they miss as little school as possible.
Sick or Unable to Attend
Health and Safety Reminders
As we approach cold and flu season, it is important to remind all our Voyager families that students should be symptom-free to come to school and before/after school activities.
Stay Home if You’re Sick – Helpful Information: A COVID -19 Toolkit https://www.snohd.org/DocumentCenter/View/8109/COVID-Toolkit-FINAL
While we recognize that many conditions can cause these symptoms, such as the “common cold” or allergies, the best way to rule out COVID is to be tested.
If your student has tested negative or is fully vaccinated for COVID, they should STILL stay home until their symptoms have improved to avoid bringing other viruses or contagious conditions to school, or coughing, wiping, or blowing their nose in the classroom, for example.
Please review the COVID-19 DAILY HEALTH SCREENING AND RESOURCE FORM. If your student has ANY of the outlined symptoms, they should stay home, (even if you believe it’s not COVID!)
Thank you for your help in keeping Voyager Middle School as safe as possible.

Operation Community Holiday Cards Drop 2021
Voyager students wrote well over 800 holiday cards to distribute to our elderly neighbors! Thank you to our students for their kindness and thoughtfulness and to the parents/guardians who donated blank holiday cards to help make this event happen! The messages throughout the cards were truly heart warming.
Holiday cards were delivered to five local retirement/nursing homes, spreading cheer throughout, compliments of Voyager Middle School! Go Wolverines!!

Mariner Jr. Cheer Program
Our junior cheer program is open to participants in 1st - 8th grade in the Everett & Mukilteo School Districts. Your cheerleader will learn cheers, dances, and stunts during our three month season. We perform in community events and local competitions.
Mariner Jr. Cheer is a feeder program to Mariner High School Cheer program. It is our goal as Coordinators to create a fun, inviting environment for members to learn cheers and teamwork but also this is a sport. Members will be conditioned athletically and they will learn what will be expected of them at the high school level if they choose to continue with Cheer and represent their High School with pride.

Reinforce six traits that lead to academic achievement
No two children are the same, but successful students do have some things in common. To develop these traits in your child, encourage her to be:
- Curious. Curious students won’t accept “just because” as an answer. They want to know things. To stoke your child’s curiosity, expose her to new ideas and experiences.
- Persistent. Successful students keep trying until they master tough assignments. They set goals and work diligently to reach them. Acknowledge your child’s effort when she puts in long hours studying; don’t focus solely on the resulting grade.
- Organized. Even an academic star will struggle in school if she can’t find things. Make sure your child has the tools to help her organize her schoolwork and manage her time, such as calendars, sticky notes and file folders.
- Resilient. Everyone fails sometimes, but successful students don’t let failure derail them. Encourage your child to take responsibility for her actions and create a plan for improvement.
- Open-minded. Remind your child to listen to the opinions of others and engage in constructive conversations with classmates—even when she disagrees.
- Confident. When students know the adults in their lives love them and believe in them, the sky is the limit!
~ The Parent Institute
Show your child how to enjoy time alone
The middle school years are a peer-driven time of life. This makes things like social distancing and virtual learning especially challenging for some students.
Remind your child that he can be happy in his own company. Encourage him to engage in
pursuits such as:
- Reading. Your child is always less likely to feel lonely when he’s immersed in a good book, or any other material he enjoys reading.
- Arts and crafts. Adolescents are often wonderfully creative and can produce beautiful work when given the time.
- Exercise. Suggest your child go for a walk each day. He can listen to music or an audiobook, or just be alone with his thoughts.
- Cooking. Growing kids are usually drawn to the kitchen. Cooking is a rewarding experience that involves all five senses. And as a bonus, your child can eat what he creates!
- Daydreaming. Let your child know it’s OK to spend some time doing absolutely nothing!
