Covid Reporting During the Break
BISD will close December 21, 2020 - January 3, 2021 for winter break. During the break, notifications will not be sent for any positive cases reported.
If you have any concerns related to COVID-19 during winter break, contact Burleson Local Public Health at diseasereporting@burlesontx.com or visit the City of Burleson website, https://www.burlesontx.com/2059/Coronavirus.
Preparing for a safe return
Staff will return to school Monday, January 4, and students will return Tuesday, January 5. As a reminder, staff and students should not enter campuses or district buildings if any of the following apply. The individual:
Has symptoms of COVID-19 as defined by the CDC as: fever (100.4°F or higher) or chills, cough, shortness of breath/difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, sore throat, nausea or vomiting, new loss of taste or smell, congestion or runny nose, or diarrhea.
Has a confirmed case of COVID-19 or has been in close contact with a person with a confirmed case of COVID-19. These individuals must follow all isolation and quarantine guidelines from the local health authority.
Has a household member who is awaiting COVID-19 test results, or who is awaiting their own test results.
Student Reminders
On Campus Students:
- Have a mask and be prepared to wear it all day.
- Have headphones that connect to your device. You will need these to listen to any teacher interaction.
- Check your schedule in Skyward to see if any courses have changed. We will not print schedules at school so make sure to either print a copy or access it on your phone.
- All students who are physically on campus are required to be in their assigned location. At no time should a student who is on campus be attending class virtually outside the classroom.
- Ensure that you are in dress code.
- Remember that all Zoom meetings are recorded and all IP addresses are accessible. Any inappropriate actions will be dealt with severely.
- Have a great school year!
Virtual Students:
- Have an adequate work area at home. No distracting materials should be seen.
- Make sure your camera works. Part of being a virtual student is being visible on the camera at all times.
- Make sure your clothing is appropriate.

Class of 2021 Google Classroom
There is now a Class of 2021 Google Classroom. All seniors have been invited to join. Parents can join too. If you did not receive an invitation email and you would like to be added, please email Mrs. Tuomey and I will add you! I will be posting information often, including links to open scholarships.
Senior Recognition
As you receive your college acceptance letters, please fill out this form and create a slide to submit. There is a slide template you can copy and edit linked on the form. We want to celebrate your exciting news on social media and around campus!
Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
The new 2021-22 FAFSA form is almost here! FAFSA.gov will be available beginning October 1, 2020.
This is a single application that you must fill out to get federal financial aid (grants, work study and loans) based on your family income. This application needs to be sent to each school you apply to so that they can award financial aid. ALL SENIORS SHOULD COMPLETE THE FAFSA in October! Money is first come, first serve. DON'T WAIT! UTA is hosting free virtual SAT Math prep workshops. The workshops platform will be over zoom and google classrooms. Students will have to register online, have a gmail, and have access to a calculator. The first session starts on Saturday, September 26, 2020. Below is the electronic link to sign up.
