May Newsletter
Spring fever may have some itching for summer, but here at the Region 14 ATC we're already ramping up for next school year! Students who registered for some of our most popular programs have been interviewing with instructors and discussing their career plans while others have spent time shadowing current CTE students to see what programs are a best fit. We are excited that our students will be taking advantage of CTE offerings outside of our region, including cosmetology, culinary, and veterinary medicine. There truly is a CTE program for every career path!
End of School Dates
Congratulations to our student film makers!
On Thursday, May 4, our community was treated to the offerings of the creative minds of our student film makers in Mr. Levesque's Digital Video II class. The audience viewed films ranging from light-hearted family memories and farcical avian adventures to more serious topics like the impact of social media on teens' well-being and depression. The students demonstrated their technical savvy with filming and editing techniques as well as their knowledge of the impact film can have on an audience, making for an enjoyable evening for all!
Our community was especially delighted to learn that four of the films shown were selected by the New Hampshire High School Short Film Festival as finalists for this year's prestigious "Best of the Best" award. If you didn't attend the ConVal Film Fest on May 4, consider coming to the Festival on Sunday, May 21 at 11:30 at Chunky's Manchester to view all of the finalists' films. Congratulations to our Region 14 finalists:
- "Avian Automatons" by Trent Stafford
- "Chasing the Past" by Jennifer Hopkins
- "In My Mind" by Ethan Marony
- "Peterborough Fire and Rescue" by Francisco Jaimes
April CTE Student of the Month
It is with great pleasure that I write to tell you Eli Sawyer has earned the CTE Student of the Month award at the Region 14 Applied Technology Center for April 2023. Eli was nominated by his Manufacturing instructor, Michael Scaramellino, for excelling in all the career readiness skills but especially for being a program leader, building positive relationships, and always coming prepared with the mindset to learn and be successful. Mr. Scaramellino shared that “Eli arrives from Conant each and every morning ready to go. He is the type of student that arrives on time, prepared and ready to work in the shop on what he needs to do. He is always on task, uses the tools and equipment properly and safely. He has been a pleasure to teach and is a model student for the Manufacturing classes.”
The Kiwanis Club of Peterborough has generously decided to honor our CTE Students of the Month this year with a $150 award, $100 of which goes directly to the student and $50 which will be donated to a nonprofit of the student’s choice. Please discuss this with Eli so he can let me know where he would like to make his donation. In addition, Eli has also earned the right to park in our reserved CTE Student of the Month parking space for the duration of May.
I know you will join me and the rest of the Region 14 ATC & ConVal community in congratulating Eli. We are proud of his successes and look forward to seeing where he goes from here!
