Message From The Principal
Dear Woodland Intermediate families,
It’s a great time to reflect on the school year as we say farewell to the bright colors and mild fall days and prepare to welcome the crisp days of November. So much has been accomplished since the beginning of the school year and I’m proud of our learning community for the work that has been done.
The close of the first quarter marks an important milestone of the school year. It also serves as a testament to our students’ hard work, perseverance and commitment to excellence in the classroom. Our first quarter report cards will be released on November 16. In addition, we have also asked our students to share their learning experiences with their parents or guardians as they wrap up each of our core academic units. Throughout the year you should look for opportunities for your child to share information about how they have grown as a learner and are working to meet or exceed their learning goals.
Our teachers and staff have also been supporting students in their development of important life skills that are critical to both academic and long term success. As we launched the year students worked to develop strategies and skills in the area of time management. Fifth and sixth grade students are at an important stage of learning how to balance all of their priorities while finding ways to engage in the activities and experiences they enjoy as well. As the year continues, our staff will work on supporting learners with a variety of skills that will help them leverage academic success. The other life skills that we will focus on include: perseverance, developing a growth mindset, communication, and conflict resolution.
Beyond the classroom students are also invited to discover new interests, build relationships and develop important life skills through our intramural program. Our team at Woodland provides a wide variety of diverse opportunities for students to get involved. If your son or daughter has not yet taken advantage of one of the many opportunities, I’d encourage you to talk with him or her about what they might be interested in. Whether it’s Battle of the Books, basketball, crafting or computer science, there really are a wide array of experiences that are offered to students at Woodland Intermediate.
As we make our way into the heart of the school year, our team looks forward to working with you to meet our learners’ needs. Thank you for your continued support. Please feel free to reach out to our team should you have questions about your child’s experience.
Sincerely,
Dave Lamers
Principal

Report Cards
Report cards will be available to view in Infinite Campus after 3:00 pm on Thursday, November 16th. Please note that when reviewing your student’s report card, teacher comments do not show up in the portal when looking at the main Grades screen. They do, however, if you access the Reports screen. From there, you can generate a report card in pdf format that will have all the comments. To access your parent portal account or if you need to set up your parent portal account in Infinite Campus, please click here.
As we continue to view the intermediate schools as an educational step between elementary school and middle school, a report card system has been established that we feel will help students with this transition. Students receive letter grades in Social Studies, Science, Computer Applications, World Studies, and Band. All other subjects report progress using proficiency grades such as Beginning, Progressing and Secure/Proficient, according to grade level benchmarks. Subjects that give letter grades also will report an effort grade. Please use your Infinite Campus account to monitor grades throughout each quarter. Feel free to contact the school or your child’s teacher with questions.
