April National Child Abuse Awareness Month
April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month. This month and throughout the year, Parents Place encourages all individuals to play a role in creating a better community for children and families. Children do well when their parents do well. By ensuring that parents have the knowledge, skills, and resources they need to care for their children, we can help promote children’s social and emotional well-being and prevent child maltreatment within families and communities.
The blue pinwheels displayed at Parents Place represent the number of children who participated in Parents Place programming in 2017. These programs include supervised visitation and a variety of community education services that include classes, support groups, workshops and family fun events.
“April is a time to celebrate the important role that communities play in protecting children,” said Raquel Mehring, Executive Director of Parents Place. “Children are the foundation of our future. When we focus on preventing child abuse and neglect, the results create strong and healthy families
APRIL PHYSICAL ACTIVITY CALENDAR
SHAPE America recommends school-age children accumulate at least 60 minutes and
up to several hours of physical activity per day. Each bout of physical activity should be
