Rock Hill Review
April 19, 2020
Opening Up
It was great to see all of our parents, staff and a few students who were able to make it to our first virtual Coffee with the Principal meeting on Wednesday. We had a great turnout and plan to do another one in a few weeks. We are pleased to offer a way to keep everyone up to date on everything going on at Rock Hill and will continue to share what is being planned for next school year.
Needless to say this is such a strange time. One one hand we have the reality of our current situation and the uncertainty that comes with that, but on the other hand, we have this unbelievably exciting future just a few months ahead with the opening of RHHS. It's been great to see how that excitement continues to build week after week regardless of the circumstances and I can't thank the team we have brought on board enough for all the work they are already doing to create exceptional programs. I'm consistently getting invited to various virtual meet and greets, as well as attending calls with staff who are already planning for next year. It's amazing to witness and I am truly blessed to be a part of it.
When people asked about our opening process given we were one of the VERY few to open a High School with Grades 9 - 12, I joked about how there really isn't a script for that. Now I think it's safe to say that we are the only ones to open a 9-12 High School on the back end of a Global Pandemic! There is definitely no playbook for that one!!! I'm even more thankful for the incredible staff we have chosen to lead the way as well as our amazing students and parents who have been so supportive throughout all of this. There is no doubt we will make it through and it will be a great way to celebrate when we can all come back together and start a legacy at Rock Hill in August!
Coach Humble did a great job discussing some of the obstacles his program is facing in a recent Dallas Morning News Article. In case you missed it here is the link. He's done an outstanding job continuing to "build the hill" as have all our Head Coaches and Program Directors!
I hope everyone is doing well in your world and please do not ever hesitate to reach out if you need anything. Have a great week! Go Rock!!!

We are excited to announce that Mr. Zach Morgan will be coming to "The Hill" to serve as our Head Cross Country Coach and Head Girls Track Coach! Coach Morgan has an extensive background not only as a Collegiate runner but also as a Head Coach. There is no doubt he will build a dynamic Cross Country and Track program at Rock Hill and we are thrilled to have him with us!
Here is a little more info about Coach Morgan:
Zach Morgan will be joining the Rock Hill staff as the Head Cross Country and Girls Track Coach, and as a Physical Education Teacher. For the last four years, Coach Morgan has been the Boys and Girls Head Cross Country and Track Coach at Spring Woods High School in Houston, Texas. While at Spring Woods, the girls cross country team made back to back regional qualifications for the first time in 25 years, and the track program produced 5 regional meet qualifiers. Prior Spring Woods, Coach Morgan served as an Assistant Cross Country and Track Coach at Odessa High School. He also worked for Adidas as the running marketing representative for South Texas.
Coach Morgan earned his bachelor’s degree in marketing from Dallas Baptist University, where he was a three time all conference cross country runner, and two time conference runner up in the 10,000 meters. He is married to wife Melissa Pabon, and enjoys running and spending time outdoors in his free time.

Here is a little more info about Coach Cordova:
I am excited and blessed to be a Blue Hawk. I am entering my 10th year in education and coaching. Prior to Rock Hill I spent 2 years at Little Elm and 7 years at Abilene-Wylie. At both places I was the Head Girl's Soccer coach and taught Spanish. I also have college coaching experience as an assistant Women's Soccer coach at Hardin-Simmons University. I graduated from HSU with a Bachelors Degree in Spanish and a Masters Degree in Kinesiology, Sports and Recreation Management. My wife, Desi, and I have 2 wonderful children, Lucas 4 and Liliana 2.
I am looking forward to serving Rock Hill HS and leading the girls soccer team. I believe if done correctly sports provide a great opportunity for student-athletes to be successful on and off the field. We look forward to working with the Blue Hawk Nation!
Head Athletic Trainer - Ms. Kristen Howell
I am thrilled to have the privilege of helping build the Rock Hill Sports Medicine program! I am coming to PISD from Braswell High School in Denton, but have worked at the Colony, Flower Mound Marcus, and Coppell also. I received my Bachelors of Science in Athletic Training from the University of Nevada Las Vegas, but had to get back to Texas! I have always been passionate about Athletic Training and can not wait to share that with future Blue Hawk student athletic trainers as we serve the Rock Hill athletic community.
Assistant Athletic Trainer - Mr. Forrest Yelverton
We are equally proud to introduce Mr. Forrest Yelverton as our Assistant Athletic Trainer! Coach Yelverton has been a trainer at both the high school and collegiate level. Hello, New Kids on the Rock!
I am beyond excited to be joining the inaugural year of Rock Hill High School in 2020-2021. I have been watching the district's exponential growth as my children have been attending Prosper schools since we moved into the area 7 years ago. My Bachelor's of Science in Education is from Baylor University. I’ve taught the last 5 years in Frisco ISD as a CTE Department Head and Animation teacher. Prior to that I spent 9 years in elementary education and freelanced in graphic design and digital art. This fall I am going to be starting my 15th year of teaching at Rock Hill - Go Blue Hawks! In my free time I enjoy spending time with my husband Michael, my son Ethan, and my daughter Annabeth. We enjoy swimming when the weather is warm, and are avid fans of video games and animated movies. I also enjoy making crafts and graphic designing as a hobby. I look forward to teaching my future Blue Hawks how to produce all types of digital media. Let’s build the hill Rock Nation!

I am married to my amazing husband, Jason, who is also a high school teacher. We have a busy 3 year old son named Will who keeps up laughing with his silly antics. We also have 2 Dachsunds. Mrs. Angela Ellis - Health Science Teacher
Mr. Michael Kizzar - Tech Apps and Engineering Teacher
Dr. Theresa Fox - Law Enforcement Teacher
My previous work experience includes working for the second largest police department in the U.S. The last assignment being in the Medical Integrity Unit of Internal Affairs as Lead Investigator; managing employees and medical cases for fraud, waste or abuse using various computer investigative tools and methodologies for intelligence gathering for qualitative/quantitative reporting. Assigned as team lead responsible for coordinating the Unit’s long-term projects with internal and external constituents, training new applicants on the Department’s mission and the importance of specific guidelines including constitutional rights, department operating procedures, anti-money laundering regulations, OSHA guidelines and HIPAA laws when handling confidential information. I had the honor to orchestrate the creation and deployment of several new initiates that are now official policies governing employee conduct throughout the Department. Other previous duties have included Negotiation Officer in the Organized Crime Division. Review Officer training undercover officers to write legal documents in preparation for court testimony. Education & Training Academy Instructor--teaching, creating and implementing training bulletins/lesson plans for over 13,000 police recruits and veteran police officers. Also, I had the privilege to earn an assignment to the Terrorism Awareness & Response Academy (TARA) as a certified Counter-Terrorist Instructor by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security for cybersecurity and risk management.
I am a lifelong learner and love learning with young people so I am a college Professor for criminal justice, ethics, organizational behavior and management courses for undergraduate students. In a graduate program I facilitate dissertation writing and research courses while mentoring doctoral candidates. I have had the pleasure to chair and be a member of numerous academic research dissertation committees.
It has been an awesome journey here to Texas from Illinois and I have been wondering ever since arriving what took me so long to get here! I love the weather, friendly faces and the many, many choices for fine dining. Glad to be here after retiring from over 22 years in law enforcement and teaching at one of the local universities. I have two adult children—my daughter and her family who also live here in North Texas and my son and his family who live in Charleston, SC. At home, my husband and I have a spoiled fur baby that is a little yorkie named Tango in addition to my elderly parents who just celebrated 70 years of marriage. When I am not busy at work or spending time with family traveling around the globe you can find me at the local golf course or running in the latest marathon.
I am super excited about being a part of RHHS/PISD and look forward to meeting everyone!
