EGMS BOOSTER CLUB HOLIDAY HURRAH
A message from the EGMS Booster Club:
Once again, the Grandview Middle School Booster Club will be showing our staff how much we appreciate all they do for our kids this Holiday Season.
One way we will be doing this will be by providing EVERY staff member a free Stories Coffee that will be hand delivered to each staff member's classroom/work area during first period on Friday, December 9.
Another way that you can personally help our staff at EGMS know how much we appreciate them is by donating any amount to our Holiday Hurrah campaign. As opposed to families feeling obligated to get individual Holiday gifts for teachers and staff members, the EGMS Booster Club plans to raise funds to provide every employee with a monetary gift before Winter Break. 100% of all funds raised will be divided between ALL Grandview staff so no one is forgotten this Holiday season.
The deadline to make your donation is Friday, December 16. Even just a few dollars makes a big difference!
You can donate by cash or by a check written out to EGMS Booster Club and simply give it to Therese in the school's main office.
If you prefer to give online or by using your mobile device, another way to donate is to click on the link below.
Quick and easy online donations will be accepted this year via Venmo or PayPal:
- Venmo @EGMS-Booster - Last 4 of the phone 5725
- OR
- https://www.paypal.com/myaccount/transfer/send
- Choose "send money to family or friends” & type in “egmsbooster@gmail.com”
Thank you for your support. We greatly appreciate it. The EGMS Booster Club would like to wish you and your family a wonderful Holiday Season!
GIRL'S BASKETBALL & WRESTLING
Girls Basketball and Wrestling will both start in January 2023. Girls Basketball will begin on January 4th and Wrestling will begin on January 12th. If you have not registered your athlete for sports and paid their activity fee for the 2022-23 school year you need to take care of that ASAP. Athletes need to complete the rSchool registration and upload an electronic copy of their physical dated after 5/1/22, and pay the $35 activity fee. If you have paid for an activity pass this year your fee has already been paid. If you have played football, volleyball or boys basketball for EGMS this school year you have already completed this process and do not need to do anything further. Students who participated in Running Club will need to make sure they have paid the $35 activity fee, since that is not a requirement for Running Club.

All 8th graders and their parents will be invited to Elkhorn North High School Registration/Parent night on Wednesday, March 1 at 6:00 pm in the Elkhorn North High School auditorium. See the flyer below for all the information.
It is helpful if all incoming 9th graders and their parents attend.
YEARBOOK PURCHASE
You still have time to purchase a 2022-2023 yearbook if you have not yet done so. Only those students who pre-order a yearbook now will receive one when they are distributed in May. To order a yearbook and pay on-line go to THIS LINK. You may also send a check for $35 made out to EGMS with your student to be dropped off in the office. The price for a yearbook will go up to $40 after Jan. 14, 2023.
WEATHER ANNOUNCEMENTS
The district will be utilizing the School Messenger phone system to inform students and parents of school closings due to inclement weather. The district may call for a 2 hour late start or 2 hour early dismissal or cancel school for the day. If
If school is to have a delayed start or be canceled, announcements will begin at approximately 6:00 a.m.
As a reminder, doors will NOT open before 7:30 a.m. Please do not drop students off before 7:30 a.m.
WINTER APPAREL
As the winter season grows stronger, please make sure your student comes to school dressed for the weather. Many times students may arrive early in the morning and may have to wait outside in the cold until supervision begins and they can be brought inside. Students also may have an unexpectedly long wait after school due to unforeseen circumstances. We make every effort to make sure kids are not out in the cold for long periods of time. However, for the safety of your child, they need to dress appropriately.
COLD WEATHER UPDATES
The colder weather is right around the corner. Cold weather protocols to be aware of:
· Before School – doors will open at 7:40 a.m.
· After School – all students are to be outside waiting for their ride. At approximately 3:35pm, (after buses leave) any student still waiting will be allowed to come inside the vestibule and wait for their ride.
GIFT GIVING AND SCHOOL DISRUPTIONS
Every holiday season brings with it the latest electronic device, gadget, or toy to hit the market. Often times these devices find their way to school. While we appreciate middle school students’ desire to own these items, they may not be appropriate in a school environment. One of our primary goals is to provide an environment focused on learning and free from distractions. Parents and students need to be aware of the guidelines typically used to address these “popular” gifts that are not suited for school. These guidelines are located on page 10 of the student handbook. If your child receives these types of gifts this season, please have a discussion with them about the school’s policy and expectations.
First Offense: Device may be taken from the student and given to the office. Item may be returned to the student at the end of the day.
Second Offense: Device may be taken from the student and given to the office. Item may be returned to the parent or guardian.
Third Offense: Device may be taken from the student and given to the office. A plan will be implemented with parental input for the remainder of the school year.
ATTENDANCE REMINDERS
A student may not leave school without a written note, an e-mail to the following link found on the EGMS website, https://www.elkhornweb.org/egms/2014/10/12/contact-the-office-2/ or a phone call from a parent or guardian. This note should have the parent’s telephone number on it, so that the note may be verified by the school staff. This notice for early dismissal must be presented to the school secretary before the school day starts. When students are late for school, a note, phone call or e-mail from the parent or guardian must be provided to main office.
Students who must leave school during school hours will follow this procedure:
1. Bring a written note or have your parent or guardian call or e-mail the main office.
2. Submit the note to the main office before going to your first class.
3. Pick up an early dismissal slip (if necessary) from the main office before leaving.
4. Students must sign out in the main office when leaving the building during school hours for any reason.
5. If you return before the school day ends, report to the office to sign in and get a pass.
REMINDER:
Any day that your student is not in attendance must be reported to the main office ASAP that morning. While we appreciate when you touch base with individual teachers, it is most important that the office is notified.
