Reading and Writing
Reading
We will be concluding our first nonfiction unit where we learned how to find and explain details from a variety of nonfiction texts. Next we’ll be starting a unit with book clubs where students will be developing stronger character skills.
The big work of this unit is for students to:
identifying the author’s intent by finding the theme of the text
identifying point of view
Writing
We will be learning how to write literary essays with the help of the books we're reading in our book clubs. We’re going to be using previous experiences in boxes and bullets as an organizational tool to support our learning.

Through fiction and nonfiction, we’ll explore themes of gratitude, family, and food. Students will recognize familiar characters and also identify personal connections to the texts.
Music
Technology
Students are reviewing proper keyboarding technique by working through specific lessons at their own pace. The fourth grade typing goal right now is to type 15 words per minute with 85% accuracy.
Art
How do art and technology connect? (iPad Exploration: Isometric App)
PE
We are finishing up our throwing and catching unit and will begin our team challenge and cooperation unit. Students will work together with partners and small groups to complete certain challenges. Towards the end of the month, we will be starting gymnastics!
Guidance
We will be finishing up our Bully Prevention Curriculum. Students will further their understanding of their responsibilities as bystanders to bullying and learning about cyber bullying.
